According to the New York Post's Page Six, M.I.A. threatened to take Ikhyd out of Brooklyn, where they all live and where Ikhyd goes to school, back to her native London. In response, Bronfman "filed a motion for a temporary restraining order preventing her from taking their son to the UK against his wishes," per Page Six.

Once the court sided with Bronfman, M.I.A. took to Twitter to express her anger in a series of lashed out tweets, which she took down 30 minutes later. RadarOnline captured the tweets before they were removed, and reports the rapper said "BEN you cant take my son away from me 'The mother'. Just because you have money doesn't mean you hav ethe[sic] right," and "WOW. THE BRONFMANS WANT TO TAKE MY CHILD AWAY FROM ME . WHAT KIND OF S**T IS THAT ? THEY NEVER SEE HIM."

Furthermore, RadarOnline reports, M.I.A. brought up her own upbringing as evidence that a child should not be kept away from a parent. Though her own tweets are removed from Twitter, M.I.A. retweeted a few responses she got and those remain in her feed -- "The mother is way more important for a child than the father imo. He should think about that. I wish u the best. x" said one supporter, "NO MOTHER SHOULD HAVE TO FACE THIS. A CHILD MUST NEVER BE SEPARATED FROM THE MOTHER," says another.

Last year, Spinner reported that after M.I.A. split from Bronfman, his mother Sherry practically raised Ikhyd. The report added that at the time M.I.A. didn't see her son very often, and sometimes six weeks would go by without them seeing each other.

A request for comment made to M.I.A's rep was not immediately answered.

And she was an absentee MOM, while the PATERNAL grandmother raised him? She's complaining that the Bronfman money is what got him the win. Maybe Madonna got in her ear about this. Remember, Madonna did the same thing with her daughter by Carlos Leon, Lourdes. I come from a two parent household so for me both my parents are important but where are we as a society headed (in North America i.e.)? With this sentiment I can see courts and society becoming even more pro-mothers and destroying the rights of fathers. Not to be an alarmist but such an open disdain for fathers is shocking for me.

Hope this kid stays with the father.

I respect MIA as an artist and think she's dope as a creative force, but I have no idea why anyone with such options as a billionaire would want to marry someone like her. not well liked here in London as a few years back their kids were running around with axes killing each other
though their elders own and run a lot of businesses, petrol stations, off licenses etc, they've calmed down as a community. I think the majority of Tamils in London are Indian rather than Sri Lankan

Yeah, this guy hasn't done much on his own, at least not that I know of. Maybe he's made some scratch from his own hustles. His real money his family money. The Bronfman family owns Seagrams and they made big money selling booze to the American rackets during prohibition. A few years back they bought Warner Music and this dude's dad is the CEO.
