Difference between "peacocking" and just wearing nice clothes?
If you're able to buy nice clothes such as designer brands and have some sense of style and fashion, does that fall into the realm of "pea cocking"? How does peacocking differ from just dressing up and looking nice

Glitter. It's the glitter.

To learn who rules over you, notice who you cannot criticize.

Drawing attention.

Feather days are dead but a good example would be a bright orange fitted shirt under a blazer. People will stare and you have to own your appearance. Or pink pants for example.

As you age peacocks or aggressive flashy clothes work against you. Flashy clothes are for "life of party game"

It's a matter of context. Dressing one-level higher in "niceness" than what is typical in your current venue or location you're in is basically still peacocking: you're changing your appearance to stand out from the crowd.

Peacocking borders on the absurd in the traditional pick up sense.

Dressing nice is a more subtle way of peacocking as it gets the womans attention, but it's not something so ridiculous she'll comment on it, but she will wonder who you are since you dress so nice.
