Edit: Just talking about (all guys) who've been in like 1 LTR forever (and bring their sweet little Princesses to Mexico). Same sort of thing when a guy gets divorced (or so I've heard from louis ck standup). Out of practice at least

Yeah, sorry about that. Didn't mean to say it like that. What I meant is that most (in my opinion. this is how I experience it) guys who are really buffed up but short ( 1.75 and below) try to look though and strong and act this way (along with a few tats) to compensate their height. In this way their insecurity radiates from them.

Ugly, short and fat dudes with hot chicks ? This is not common in Western and Northern Europe, imho.

What's true is that most Europeans don't obsess that much about trying to be the tough, ripped alpha guy as Americans do, from my experience. For one, it's a different culture over here that doesn't value competition and physical strength as much as America does, but also because the dating market is not as tough as it is in the US.

no worries, I think I know what you mean. for me, it's when guys like this are aggressive that I can't stand. I'm sitting there thinking - 'you know I could seriously hurt you if I wanted to, right?' That can be annoying.

true. I'll get final word if I'm staying here next week, and after that I'm going to be a language learning machine. Got to know it to break into the market (if you don't want to rely on outliers - which I have been). The American English accent will never get you anywhere (maybe SE Asia, I don't know), but American accented foreign language spoken at least decent is a key.

I think the main problem here is that most of the sentiments and judgements posted here are based on tourists from certain countries. And depending on where you are, the demographic represented by these tourists changes considerably.

For example, go down to any big Greek party island and the impression you get of the Brits is that they're loud, drunk, obnoxious, and generally stupid. Compare that to the British tourists that you'd see in a city renowned for culture and art like Barcelona and you'd get a completely different type of tourist, and as a result a completely different impression of the Brits.

If I were to generalize based off the type of american tourist that I've encountered, I would describe americans as loud, brash, very beta males, aggressive females, generally unstylish, and with no signs of being in shape. Younger people included. But the fact is that these are only the tourists, and therefore not very representative of the greater country.

I've heard some mention of Dutch tourists being 'beta' or something similar in this thread, and I wouldn't doubt your experiences, but it is extremely unrepresentative of the larger population. The people who travel a lot to exotic destinations represent a very specific subset of the population. There are plenty of boorish, beer-drinking, gym-going dutch guys (very similar to the kind of frat bros you get in the US), but these are just not represented in a lot of these places I've seen being mentioned.

Loving the discussion so far, but I just wanted to stress this factor in determining our perception of countries and their people.

Many Europeans consider the typical American macho posturing unsophisticated and primitive. I tend to agree although I prefer it to the straight up feminine Scandinavian culture. But skinny is preferred over roided in Europe and I think that's good. Taking steroids to impress girls to me is very insecure. Wanting to get into fights to prove yourself is also very insecure. Most of all, the intense desire to dominate other men, that seems to be present in some American culture, is very bad for the average male as described already.

But thinking about it, the only people I know who went to Mexico/South America were staunch liberals and weaklings. They're probably there for some deluded Che Guevara fantasy.

I admit.. i think Americans over all are manly.. american football vs soccer, the soldier and even bad ass mofos in prison, but I guess we are not seeing european media with gangs in their prisons pumping iron trying not to get shanked.. when i think of EU prisons I think of it being as a retirement home.

I was in Normandy last year and did see some french soldiers training and they did look bad ass to me.. so...
