Interesting. From the FAQ:

I'm sure there was a dupe thread about this (titled "height surgery something") in the Lifestyle section, but I can't find.

Regardless, hell no. What a stupid risk to take and what a gigantic waste of money. Being taller is nice, but it's not worth this horror.

This reminds me of a children's story I heard way back in primary school (I think Roald Dahl was the author). About two elderly people pranking each other and one decides to add a very thin piece of wood to the bottom of the others walking cane every day. This would make the person think they were shrinking as the cane slowly got larger in comparison with the person. I cant remember how the story ended but this is basically the same procedure slowly lengthening the bone and artificially growing it.
