Also for anybody getting p90x it's easy and very available to torrent. My biggest complaint is not that it might not work (it probably does OK, it's hard to screw up a calisthenics workout and you're going to show results if you're otherwise untrained) but that you're going to keep hearing the same crap jokes over and over.

4hr body in my opinion is not the worse thing out there and its not the best. I would just go to the book store and right down the main points of whatever section you want to know about. Also there isnt really any recipies in the book so you kinda have to be creative

The difference between slow carb and paleo is slow carb is just eating high amounts of protein and low amounts of carbs in your meals such as eating chicken and broccoli and whatever other foods that have few carbs.

Paleo is eating foods that the caveman would eat and nothing that has been "processed" or "cultivated" so you can eat fish meats vegetables and fruits. you are allowed also to eat high amounts of animal fat with your proteins because cavemen would have done so and not sat down with a fork and knife picking away fat off of a steak.

Slow carb and paleo are pretty similar except you are allowed more foods on slow carb that arent all natural or cultivated such as beans. Slow carb also encourages a cheat meal once every week at least in Tim Ferriss's version. The paleo diet doesnt focus on low carb as much but it seems to be a byproduct of eating all natural foods. The only thing is you can eat a lot of fruits which have a lot of carbs and on the slow carb diet your not supposed to eat fruit

I thought it was a fun read but it's never going to be as easy as it sounds in the book. Good luck following Slow-Carb if you're a broke college student. 4-Hour Chef shows you how to cook all the meals but that's a pain in the ass of its own

The Occam's protocol workout in the book is cool. Was worth a try. I think the guy knows what he is talking about

It may be true for some people that they dont experience fogginess but for the average person to get to the stage where they are past their fogginess would be difficult. The ketogenic diet in itself is difficult to stay on and is not necessary to lose fat. Even The article mentioned above states that ketogenic diets are extremely difficult and unappetizing.

In my opinion cutting any type of macro nutrient out of your diet is not logical. fruits and vegtables are mostly carbs and if you think back to the times of the caveman or paleo style of eating they wouldnt eat just meats and fats. Its just like other fad diets that try to cut out fat completely its not healthy.

Ketosis might be a good diet if you have some kind of brain disorder such a seizures which is what most researchers or doctors use the diet for. The article above talks about that. Another thing it mentions is that ketosis is achieved by carbohydrate and protein restriction which Idk if thats correct about restricting protein but if that were true it is something you would not want to do if your going to the gym regularly.

The last reason why I dont think its optimal is because that article is manly focused on the brain and some fat loss. it doesnt talk about bodybuilders or people who workout a lot they are simply referring to the everyday person. people who are in the gym say 5 days a week need a lot of energy to be able to perform in the gym. When I did the ketogenic diet yea I might of lost one or two pounds (could of been due to other things also such as water, glycogen or undigested food) but after the first week or so while in ketosis I had no energy and my numbers in the gym went down significantly.

That is why I think if need to lose a couple pounds real fast in a short amount of time for an upcomming event it might work but for someone who is trying to cut down and keep muscle gains its not optimal and you can achieve very low amounts of body fat while consuming carbs. It all depends on your macro nutrient ratios.

^ So ideally, if one wants to "break through" to ketosis, should they go paleo (20g) and stop working out for 2 weeks (something I do occasionally, especially when on travel), then once their bodies have adapted to burning fat instead of (xyz) regularly, would putting yourself back on weights+carbs after the 2 weeks (150g) keep the momentum going?

Sorry, I'm just trying to apply this for most of our users on a practical level.

No once you start eating carbs your body stops burning ketones and uses carbs or fat for fuel again taking you out of ketosis. And going paleo wont always get you into ketosis since paleo you can eat lots of fruits and vegetables which contain mainly carbs.

For the body to be in ketosis you would have to stay under about 30g of carbs a day for about 3-4 days depending on the person.

If you are someone who likes the paleo diet I would go with that. Just eat clean foods fruits vegetables and meats and cut out grains and bread. That will take most people a long way and once you plateau doing that you can start tracking your macros (protein, carbs, fats) to make sure your eating the correct portions for fat loss

you can still burn quite a bit of fat eating say around 150g carbs a day the main thing to using fat for energy instead of carbs is that you want to keep your insulin levels relatively stable throughout the day. when you eat a lot of carbs what it does is spike your insulin which is basically the hormone that turns off burning fat.

On the contrary if your looking to bulk up what you would want to do is spike your insulin directly after your workout because then it signals the body to store energy/muscle but you dont want to be spiking your insulin everytime you eat as that would also store a significant amount of fat which is why eating tons of carbs at say fast food places makes people fat. even if its healthier fast food such as panera or subway the bread is really what kills you in the amount of carbs it has

I suck at foreign languages. But thought this was a good tip (I think it is from Roosh).

When in a foreign country. Keep a notebook. And everytime something comes up - that you don't know how to say - just note it down.

Then at the end of the each day - learn the phrase which would have helped in that situation.

It is a good way to pick up the language you most need for your personal day-to-day living.
