You take pics. Run pics through filter. Share with friends.
Filter makes badly composed photos look cool.
This stirs emotions on the inside of the viewer.

Why it took off versus other applications that allow people to share photos with friends? Probably took off on the back of easy integration with Twitter. That's probably where Flickr and all the rest failed, they didn't get the user interface right and didn't understand the power of sharing user generated content.

A more interesting question is why does Angel and Venture capital seem to be so enamored around these small tweaks around the same basic ideas?

The business model is build a product, attract free users, scale up, sell advertising to businesses, hope the free user base doesn't flip out. (like they did when Facebook tried to monetize Instagram)

On some level, all of this big money is chasing the average person's few disposable dollars. Bulk of people's money goes to housing, transportation, health, taxes, and food.

What's left gets spent on savings, investment (lol), toys and entertainment.

Its a corny project but she is hot as hell. If it's culturally accepted to do this type of stuff where he is from then he might be getting a lot of added value by doing this.

Women love the thrill of putting their body on display. They doubly love the feeling of putting their body on display and being reassured that despite all of her efforts to showcase her body, her boyfriend is still the right choice (no one has pulled a G and swooped her from him yet.)
