What's surprising to me is that female porn stars only have 8 new notches a year. So this also means that many, many normal girls are sluttier than porn actresses. But they don't get money for it.

The statistics for notches imply that the most popular males get a lot of repeat work, whereas there are a LOT of females who do one or two gigs and then drop off the roster. So, does this reflect the male desire for novelty, assuming most consumers of porn are men?

From what I understand, men get paid far less per performance than females do. Therefore a female can pay the bills with fewer performances. Still surprising that 8 per year is the average, though.

I also agree with your inference that lots of "normal" girls are taking far more dick than porn actresses. Not only are they not getting paid, they're probably carrying around more diseases, and unknowingly.

The top women in the business pretty much get veto power over who they'll fuck on screen. Granted. There are fewer guys that make the cut in the business - not a lot of them can turn it on when the lights come up and people are watching, that's why they get so much work. As for the women, there are a ton of new "starlets" coming down the pipe daily, so they're usually getting broken in by veteran guys in the business. Some of the top chicks also do girl-on-girl, cutting down on the overall amount of dicks they take. The top chicks are also under contract, so they get paid for working less, and also support their income making appearances and merchandising products. And yes, men get paid less. I watched this documentary by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders called "Thinking XXXX." He's a photographer, and he filmed the making of his book of photography of porn stars, and it was interspersed with interviews. Some of the men were resentful of the fact that they were considered interchangeable props, and not paid as well. One dude, who claimed to be straight, actually does GAY porn, because men get paid very well in that niche. FUCK THAT.

A lot of girls do more than 8 per year, but they stay in porn for a short time, so it skews the statistics.

For example, a new girl to porn will get booked a lot and does maybe 12 - 15 scenes, and then leaves porn when she doesn't get as much work after that. This is because websites and porn companies are always hungry for new talent, but once a girl has been shot by a lot of the websites/companies, her value goes down unless she is very hot or has some other star quality, and she won't get booked as much anymore. The 8 per year stat is based of the most prolific porn girls, who have longevity, and these girls tend to be contract girls, so they do far fewer scenes per year.

What always struck me about porn girls is how short their careers generally are. The article the OP linked doesn't say, but I would guess that the average length of a porn chicks career has to be less than a year.

Even with turning tricks they can get 5000-10k and up each costumer. This can only be for a couple hours of work. I would guess the top crust of women are pulling on average 350-500k per year.

I will never understand this either.

Shit, I took my girlfriend's virginity, and before I started teaching her, she didn't know how to handle a dick - I seriously don't think she'd ever even touched one before I got with her. And I still don't pedestalize her.

My one beef with the analysis is that the sample is too big in a sense - it includes everyone who's ever appeared in the porno IMDB. If you want to get a sense of what makes pornstars shine, you'd want to narrow it down to the repeat performers, and not include some chick who appeared in one flick. I'd bet some of the statistics would change if you limited it to say, the top 1,000 performers, instead of 10,000. Also interesting that the top ten performers, aside from Tori Black and Sunny Leone, do not have *very* beautiful faces - there's a lot more to sex appeal than just facial attractiveness. DPP and DAP are a lot more common than I'd have thought - I never watch that shit.

But it's definitely handy nonetheless.

Just so you guys know, this is part of why I still continue updating the "What Do You Guys Consider a 10?" thread. When I was a teenager, oneitis was a serious problem. I would see one girl in real life or occasionally on TV and sort of got her stuck in my head on a pedestal. The obsession would last for years sometimes.

The more porn I watched, the more I realized the fallacy of this. When I began transitioning to amateur porn (I don't pay much mind to the mainstream stuff, it bores me now), this became even more obvious as I started to realize just how many pretty girls there were out there who weren't even famous or well known.

With the 10 thread (and now the Black Hotness thread), I'm able to find new chicks from around the globe on a daily basis, many of whom are not well known at all and quite a few of whom are just college chicks or amateurs. Every day there is a new batch of beautiful women-you could fall in love with a different chick every hour.

Just the process of updating that thread helps me to prevent myself from ever having the kind of oneitis I did as a kid since it enforces the reality that pretty girls are not as rare a commodity as so many chodes make them out to be.

It is much harder now for me to get irrationally and prematurely sprung on one girl in my personal life knowing what I know now. I'm glad for that. Sometimes I fear it makes me a little too apathetic (basically a 180 from the extreme thirstiness I displayed 3-4 years ago), but it is still an immense improvement.

Its a Saturday night, so they were dressed to go out... I was actually getting depressed at the amount of overweight girls. I don't mean obese or even outright fat, just girls with probably half a stone to a stone (7-14lbs) extra fat. They aren't seen as being fat in today's world, yet they would be out of the ordinary even 20 years ago.
