Offensive garbage

As someone who works with the developmentally disabled population, I am disgusted that Itunes is allowing a book with such an offensive title and description to be advertised an public. I will not be purchasing anything from here again.

Classic kneejerk overreaction. Yeah, the title is designed to get attention, and personally, I don't use the word retarded. At the same time, I love these toy protesters that swear they'll never do something again because of something they don't like. You know this punk motherfucker was downloading something from itunes the next day...HA HA!

On Amazon, the customer reviews are the same. People focusing on the actual title, and some actually think the author is recommending that you actually SAY "Bitch, Are You Retarded" to women. If that's what some readers think, they're too retarded to be helped by ANY book.

My only beef with the title is that me omitted a vital comma between "Bitch" and "Are." And, even that's a stretch. It's like finding fault with the Mona Lisa.

the title's funny, but i think from a salesman perspective it sucks. He's eliminating a lot of his target market who have that first knee jerk reaction.

Jezebel interviewed him. For those who don't want to click on the link, I'll sum it up: the writer and commenters are astounded, just astounded that he thinks it's up to women to decide not to date jerks. Rather, they think he need to tell men not to be jerks, because women couldn't possibly be responsible for their own behavior. Here is a segment of a sample comment:

"...you can go sit in the corner with Carlos Lee - a mansplaining time out as it were. If jerks came with a "jerk" label then women wouldn't feel they needed books to decode their behavior. Why is it on women for believing the line of crap men feed them? In addition to "madonna/whore" it's now madonna/detective/swami/whore? How about we do away with the line of crap altogether..."

The first chapter is titled "Women are smarter than men," and goes on to state how women are just designed to be better and men are responsible for women's self esteem problems.

I realize that it is likely a marketing strategy for his target market but I could not read such a book.

I read the interview, and it's as bad as DOBA alleges - this bitch IS retarded (the Jezebel author, that is). Take that logic and apply it to eating healthy - 'I should not have to pick and choose healthy foods at the market! That choice to eat junk food should be taken away from me; soda and cheez-its should not be available for purchase! Why should I be the one to put up with this shit.' Obviously, that isn't happening, so you'll never eat healthy. Beck admits she can't be helped when it comes to fucking douchebags, so she demands the universe eradicate them. Of course, there'll always be douchebags, just as there'll always be junk food, so her argument is retarded.

Plus she asks if the title is really necessary for Lee to be heard. Uh, would you have written about him with a more sedate title? Fuck no. Bitch, are you retarded?

I've observed elsewhere, too, people dropping the comma specifically when using the word bitch. I think it's meant to convey the intent that the phrase should be delivered without a pause. The grammar is easily understood even with the mistake, and the comma makes it sound too proper and formal.
