Last night out in Saigon

A major difference in Indonesia - Jakarta at least - is you have immediate and easy access to upper-middle and upper class girls, all of whom speak conversational English (as well as Indonesian, Javanese or their other home language, and usually another foreign language such as Korean or Japanese). No need to speak Tinglish or equivalent, though basic Indonesian is easy to pick up for dealing with less educated taxi drivers, etc.

Also, though I love Thailand, the insular culture and general lack of intellectual curiosity, especially among women, is definitely a downer for me. Indonesian women, or at least all the ones I was in contact with, don't suffer from these issues.

Lastly, and this is of course personal taste, I find Javanese women the most attractive of all Asian ethnicities. Many of them don't even look "Asian" per se, just exotic.

Yes Indonesia has many of the benefits of the "easy" SEA countries like Thailand and Philippines, with the huge advantage of being completely unspoiled by sex tourists and (outside of Bali) by almost any tourists at all. Ah, one last note. I've mentioned in previous threads that Chaweng is a shit-hole to be avoided. Still largely true, but if you do happen to be staying in Samui, the women in Lamai have nothing on the women in Chaweng. Pros or not, the hot pussy resides in the latter. I think a good option, if you're cool with a motorbike, is to stay in Bophut and party in Chaweng.
