Case in point: Sue Perkins, who is all over UK TV. She had a new sitcom start last night. TL;DW (too lame;didn't watch). I think it's because women are herd animals and also a lot of them are harmony addicts. Humour is usually about uncomfortable truths being exposed, and they just don't feel comfortable doing that because it sets them apart and runs the risk of being disliked.

Agree about Sue Perkins - I fucking hate this woman.

Sandy Toksvig however is very funny, she does the news quiz on Radio 4, thoroughly recommended she is sharp as a razor. Goes without saying shes a dyke...

Just like how a lot of women think that doing something impressive or challenging is attractive to men. I have respect for them if they do or achieve something great but is it attraction building?

"Why women comedians are not funny"

Because they're not comedians anymore. They're exhibitionists or performance artists who are billed as "comedians" but don't tell jokes or make observations in the classic way.

Instead, they mostly talk about their bodily functions, sex lives, or body parts. If you remove the way they look (or dress), the jokes fall flat.

The reason for the rise in women comedians, by the way, is because we live in the "viral video" and cable TV age*, where women can trade on their looks. If the main medium for comedians was still the vinyl record -- as it was in Steve Martin and Richard Pryor's era -- none of these women would be popular.

Here is how you can tell female comedians aren't really comedians. Take a joke by a male comedian (George Carlin, Bill Burr) and have a female say it. It usually remains funny.

But if you reverse that, and have male comedians repeat jokes by women comedians, they're not funny, because those "jokes" are specific to the way that female comedian looks or dresses.

If YouTube and Vimeo disappeared tomorrow and no one could share viral videos on Facebook, you'd see Silverman, Schumer, and Handler disappear in an instant.

* Also the reason female pop stars like Taylor Swift have become bigger than their male counterparts. Definitely would not be the case if people were forced to only listen and not look.
