A guy tried to kill a Bulgarian politician today/yesterday (?) but the gun failed to go off. Result is he got bundled to the ground and his head kicked in and hit over the head with a briefcase and an old dude with a walking stick. All this was on live tv. Got to love the Balkans!

Those "security" guys are not professionals, they just hired the biggest meatheads they could find:

1- How come they let the guy walk up the stage enough to make it as far as next to the president? They should have nabbed him the moment he set a foot on stage.

2- While one guy tackles the assailant, another one has to take the mark away from the stage and into cover. You do not let the mark stay around after an attempt, who knows who else is pointing a gun at him?

3- You do not kick the guy while he is down, specially if there are cameras pointing at you. If you are going to make the guy feel pain, you do it privately and methodically.

4- You do not kick a conspirator in the head. You want his mind to be clear enough to talk.

5- You do not let anyone get close to the conspirator. What if they are trying to erase their tracks?

On #1, dude wasn't a president. He was a leader of a party (a la Rep. John Boehner or Rep. Nancy Pelosi):

The politician is a leader of the political party of the turks and gypsies, a turk himself. The assassin was also turk, so were most of the politicians and security beating him up. This whole thing was most likely staged.

I just asked a Bulgarian friend of mine about this. Her original comment:

"Yes, I know, he staged it to raise his popularity and get more people to vote for him. He´s got to die!!!! This time for real!!!!!"

It is 99.9% likely that it was staged.

They later found out that the "terrorist" used a gas gun loaded just one bullet and no magazine. You also notice that the guy with the gun is actually much taller yet he doesn't do anything – the entire scene just looks pathetic. The crowd of party members ends up "disarming" the "killer" in a rather "democratic" way, no officially appointed security guards to take control of the situation aka "attempted murder".

Yep. Plus if you wanted to assassinate someone, you don't walk up and point the gun right at their face. You'd just fire it from a distance and not risk being accosted by security as you walk toward your target.

I don't believe that they actually wanted to kill him, the "killer" aim was just to frighten him to death.
If you see the reaction of the crowd and the security guards it seems like the guy got beaten and clubbed for real, almost to the point to risk some pretty bad damages. It doesn't look staged IMHO.

Notice how the shooter first walks up and then repeatedly hesitates before firing at the politician. In fact he hesitates for quite a long time and then backs away as if scared. This isn't congruent with the type of personality that walks in front of a large audience with a gun. They did beat him up afterwards, not sure about whether this thing is true or not.

Even if the event was staged, and I don't think it was, the ass-kicking he received was very real.

It seems as if the would-be assassin forgot the chamber the bullet. You can see him after pulling the trigger trying to cock the gun but got his ass handed to him before he could get the round off.
