Televangelist blames woman in responding to teen's question

The Christian televangelist is taking heat over comments he recently made on his "700 Club" show in response to a 17-year-old who wrote to "Maxim" magazine about how his father never pays attention to his mother, Slate reported.

"I'm 17 years old and I’ve noticed that there has been a change in my father’s behavior," he wrote. "He spends too much time at the computer playing a war game. I’ve noticed how alone my mom feels. I just want my father to spend more time with my mom. What should I do? How can I talk to my father? I feel shame for him. Please help."

Robertson initially suggests the boy try to get his parents out of the house on some kind of romantic getaway.

Then it gets weird.

Robertson continues, "You know, it may be your mom isn’t as sweet as you think she is; she may be kind of hard-nosed. And so, you say, it’s my father, he’s not paying attention to mom, but you know mom ..." he trails off, chuckling.

He then goes on to say "awful-looking women" can be blamed for other marital problems, The Huffington Post reported.

"A woman came to a preacher that I know, and she was awful looking. I mean, her hair was all torn up and she was overweight and looked terrible, clothes bad and everything," Robertson said. "And she said, 'Oh, Reverend, what can I do? My husband has started to drink.' And the preacher looked at her and said, 'Madam, if I was married to you I'd start to drink too.'"

Robertson has been married to his wife, Adelia, since 1954.

Pat Robertson is crazy as fuck, but you gotta love his lack of filter. Men are usually the bad guys when marital issues arise, and it's just assumed that women are victims. Women buy into this more than anyone, in that it simply isn't in their natures to take any accountability when relationships go wrong. Once a man "commits," he must endure any and all forms of displeasure, because by taking the vows of marriage he promised to remain in the relationship "for better or worse." However, these vows don't apply to them. Good for Pat.

If a broad in a relationship suddenly goes on a diet, taking care of herself, etc after not having done so for years you can figure that relationship is in it's last stages.

Have seen this innumerable times.

Of course these broads spiff themselves up so they can find a new guy, not turn on the guy that put up with their slovenly ways for years.

This. It's actually how I know when to start striking the hot iron in girls at work, my social circle, etc.

Common sense but no modern woman would listen to that advice. It's funny how the wives in old couples take better care of themselves than young ones. Look pretty, cook good food, provide good sex and don't cheat. It's really not that hard to keep a guy happy.

I found that actually listening to him, and not just the MSM summary, he is more right than wrong. And it turns out that I agree with him on many things.

The MSM is wrong on women, why would it not be wrong with Pat?

Everyone is a afraid to say it, but he's right. I tend to think about decisions with long term implications. It's really disappointing to see women let themselves go after a few years. There are two secretaries in my office. One is a short chubby American with short hair. The other is an older, feminine, and stylish first generation Eastern European women. I don't understand how women can make so much effort to look good in their 20/30's and then just throw up their hands, making their husbands unhappy. I thought bait and switch was illegal.
