Fujitsu's "privacy mode" is a layer of nearly invisible security that hides missed calls, emails and text messages from contacts designated as private. If one of those acquaintances gets in touch, the only signal of that communication is a subtle change in the color or shape of how the battery sign or antenna bars are displayed. If ignored, the call doesn't appear in the phone log.

The changes are so subtle that it would be impossible to spot for an untrained eye. When the privacy mode is turned off through a secret combination of keys, the concealed calls and messages appear, and voice mail becomes accessible.

This comes in handy to another blogger who calls himself "Poza." He claims to have various romances on dating sites while juggling three girlfriends. He said he was introduced to the Fujitsu phone nearly five years ago and uses the privacy features to keep from getting caught. He says he recently bought an iPhone, but giving up his Fujitsu phone to carry just a smartphone is "unthinkable."

"In terms of keeping my cheating hidden, this does more than enough," he wrote in an email. Poza, who says he works for a design company in western Japan, declined to provide his real name.

I have said it before, and I know how bad a wrap Japanese guys get around here, but some of these players are putting western guys to shame.

Some guys manage to juggle five women, hold down a job, have a wife, and still plow through some strange in the nights. I know a doctor there who used to swoop 100 a year, while maintaining his family and a mistress.

Step inside some of the big advertising agencies in Japan and check out the "tea girls". I can still barely comprehend that a company will employ hundreds of young, pencil skirt clad babes just to do "copying and make tea". Most of the salarymen have no idea what to do with them, but for the guys that have the skillz its insane.

Its no surprise that a company like Fujitsu has this built in to their phones.

In Japan it is unbelievably easy to have girls in your rotation who you see once every week or two weeks. No fuss, you make a booking and see them two weeks later. Minimal flaking or jealousy. Some of these girls may have other dudes but some of them don't.

And yeah I have an old-school phone :-)

You can use this plugin for this android app to put in "private" numbers that will be hidden and can only be viewed if you know how to launch the app. It probably saved my ass more times than I can count.

I'm half japanese and my two eldest uncles are some of the biggest players I know. One of them is almost 70 and got caught at a concert with a 20-something girl by one of my cousins last year. The same uncle got caught in Vegas with a 30 year old not too long ago.
