Of course there is a big difference between using "drugs" to escape and for the sake of hedonism than using "drugs" for self confrontation and dealing with the issues in one's life - as some have already mentioned.

Mushrooms, MDMA, LSD and Cannabis all fit the bill as substances good for this - but then also, it is about having the mind set and framework of inquiry and self investigation, rather than escape or hedonism.

The only drugs I do is whisky and red wine. The latter two glasses a week and the former only during special occasions.

That being said, if you're fucking around with most hard drugs in the first place, you're probably using it to cover something up in side. And when you're using it for that purpose, that leads to the road to ruin. I'm in that category lol

I've noticed that recently any sort of stimulant has been giving me a panic attack - coke, speed, mdma, & weed (not that its a stimulant but still). So then I drink like a mofo to dull that sensation, and it's a fucking mess. So I've been avoiding stims. You spend all this fucking time chasing the high, but then the high lasts for like 30 minutes. It's bullshit.

Benzos I've never liked. They always made me feel bad.

Having been in the depths of some particularly gnarly drug binges, and also on the other side of strict sobriety, I can honestly say the biggest high I get is exercising moderation.

Perfect example was last night. Met some friends at a bar and had a glass of champagne and a glass of Fernet. After that it was all sodas and bitters, but they kept going. I didn't feel like I lost out, and in fact I felt better because I had a buzz, but I was more coherent and more dominant in the conversation.

After the bar we went to one of my buddies. He started cutting lines and we hung out in front of a fire and chatted away all night. I snorted two and cut myself off while they finished what looked like an 8 ball. Again, I felt great, I got to partake, but I cut myself off before getting all gacked out and talking like a fucking retard.

I find that zone of having two drinks, or 1 or 2 lines, or a hit off a joint puts me in a really good place. I feel like I'm vibing with everyone, but I don't turn into a retard and I'm able to maintain a confident and dominant frame in the social situation. It's a good feeling.

MDMA in moderation turns me into the most interesting, outgoing quick witted person in the place. Its a shame that I usually only stay at that point for an hour before deciding to get completely off my trolley.

But yea, MDMA if used in moderation can be a truly life enriching drug.

At your own risk. A lot of people get into the drugs more than anything else at the moment.

Lol, saw this guy do a line at least 12 inches long, 1.5 inches wide snorted w/a short flash-card. I was amazed.... He proceeded to drink all the alcohol in sight and chat up every girl, but not give a f-ck about closing or sex. Interesting experience.
