A decent match for DL. If it wasn't in the public eye I think he could have closed.

I like where his head is at, but I think he pushed too far and was too honest for the Washington Post. He could have played the "game" a little better.

This guy seemed to man-up harder than most on these Date Lab things, but yeah, he didn't finish strong enough. He was bold enough to go for the kiss, but didn't give the strong indication that he wanted to see her again (even though he thought he had the email address for the follow-up). He was self-aware enough to realize his mistake after the fact. I also like that he openly admitted that he doesn't go on dates looking to be friend-zoned - he wants pussy. If he had gotten that second date, he could have fought through that "lack of spark" and pushed up hard. She already thought he was attractive, so he just needed to up the physicality to get the butterflies fluttering.

Do people actually get laid on these things? I've been reading for a while and I can't remember anybody ever closing. I don't know DC or its culture, but I don't think even the biggest slut is going to want the fact that she let a guy inside her within 6 to 7 hours of meeting him written up in a major national newspaper.

Like RandalGraves said, his biggest obstacle was the table setup. It seems like he's got some player intuition, and realized the staid dinner setup was nuking his chances of closing, so he shifted to a more favorable venue, using a sybian motorcycle to get there.

His other flaw was being too friendly. With American women, if you answer all their questions straight, you're boring. If you don't tease her and make fun of her, it's very easy to get in the friend zone. A cornerstone of my game is ignoring or mis-answering at least half their questions, which makes them, combined with good style, think I'm 'mysterious.' I try to never answer quickly and obediently.

She also seems very passive, probably has an entitled mindset that demands that the man must do all the pursuing.

My takeaway from this is just how high the bar has been set these days in order to qualify for a second date. There were no real FUBAR moments. They had a lot in common, seemingly enjoyed each other's company, they kissed. By any standard, it was a successful date that merited a second. In my parent's or grandparent's generation, this exact same date would've ended in a marriage. It's no wonder so many women end up spinsters these days. If their panties aren't soaked within 2 hours it's "next". I'm amazed by women's ability to just walk away from a completely normal, decent and accomplished guy for absolutely no good reason. I know of someone like this as well. Minus the religion. She ended up happily married because her mom convinced her to go on a second date. She wasn't "feeling" him after the first. I'm guessing this is why arranged marriages were so ubiquitous in cultural history. Women if left to their own devices have no idea of a good thing when it's right in front of them. So her father made the decision for her.

These comments are why that today learning game is more important than ever. While I find it to be somewhat unreasonable, it's no longer ok just to have a decent 1st first date. With the high amount (not necessarily high level) of competition that the avg guys faces when meeting women, you really have to step your shit up. The thing is though, more and more men are waking up everyday and realizing that the women they desire are not worth that extra effort.

Every girl firmly believes that "I am not a slut."

So imagine a girl goes on a date with you. It goes well, you make out, maybe you finger her, and little more. That weekend, she goes out with her girlfriends, gets drunk, and makes out with some guy. Her friends see it, they don't care but they make sure she goes home without him. Then as the weekend ends, the girl gets a text from you. She recalls she had a good time with you, but there was also that guy in the bar she made out with. Uh-Oh! Having a great date with one guy and then making out with another one in a bar - that sounds pretty slutty! But obviously she is not a slut, so that is impossible. It must be that... that date with you was actually not that great, and that she was never that into you, Mr. Date, in the first place! Basil, you are fired up today. That is DC brother. I've been here 6 months and it is reality. In Florida, you could talk to a girl and if you have a steady income and health insurance you are ahead of the pack. In DC, you can travel the world, speak 3 languages, have a PHD, run marathons etc..and the reaction is "oh, you are just like every other guy here"

Trying to impress DC people with travel, education etc...is like trying to impress girls on South beach with money. You better have something else to make you "unique".

I met this chick when she was new to DC back in '09. She was friends with a cuntbag housemate of mine and came by our place a few times. I remember her being cute but she had a very odd high pitched laugh and if she laughed more than 3 seconds, it would sound like she was hyperventilating. Hence the reason I never tried to bang. I know some of the girls she ran with back then were super liberal and average looking (90% of DC women) but pretty quick to drop their panties, so this guy could probably still cash in soon since they had some chemistry.
