I've really been quite naive and overly earnest with my approach to Tinder...I need to do a complete 180.

On another note, I'm curious to hear Youngblood's (and others') ruminations on how to leverage the new Moments feature.

Is it weird to suggest meeting a chick half way? I've been traveling pretty far for Tinder girls only for disappointments; not worth my time. This girl lives an hour away and there's a city halfway between us. She seems slightly DTF (willing to watch a movie together in private) -- but is it a good or bad idea to meet in the city, grab a drink, build comfort, so that next time we meet up, she's not worth my time?

Even more pro tip: Disable audible alerts in the app altogether. You have the option of only having a vibrate notice, even when you're master volume is up.

I have yet to comment or like any of the girl's moments. I have no reason to, I get anywhere from 50-80 likes on my own moments.

I do look at the girl's moments to gauge their sluttiness though.

Thanks to all the tips in this thread(especially YoungBlood), my text game is improving immensely.


Her bio and name is English. I opened and all was going smooth. Then she switched to Norwegian and I messed up badly. I'm way more comfortable with my English text game. I'd say she is an 8.

I could have said something else instead of the abs thing (I don't really have huge abs, very normal). What I posted in Norwegian was just bad and desperate though, there was no way back.

I disabled all dating app notifications, and put them deep into a subfolder, I check when I want. Not when a notification goes off.

I delete Tinder prior to dates, then reinstall afterwards. My matches return with reinstallation.

I'm still using the old version but I was reading above that you can rate girls or something now?

The new version sucks. it crashes and I am not getting any matches or replies to my messages, where I usually do. I liked the Lists feature because I could classify only the girls I wanted to bang, or pursue hard. This feature is gone now. Somehow I think an algorithm was changed, but who knows. I am giving it another day, then deleting my account and starting over.

a couple questions-would a joke picture like that "free candy" van one be suicide or might it work? (in addition to normal, good pics of course)
second, i'll match with half a dozen 7.5s and above within a couple days then go two weeks with nothing, zero matches even if i carpet bomb. Why would this be? You'd think that if some 8s match you, there would be a relatively steady flow, plus that lesser than 8s would match, as ill get those as well in the days i get matches with hotter girls...a few days with zero matches could be a statistical anomaly, but 2 weeks? Then i'll get a rush of matches and the process will repeat. (this is without deleting then re-adding the app)

I thought of having a joke pic of some sort but for me it's always risky. You don't know what her sense of humor is like.

As far as matching, I mentioned before, personally for me, Tinder has a shelf life of 4-5 days. Meaning after that I get zero matches. I delete my account after 5 days and start it back up again.

What I think it is, besides a bug that so desperately needs to be fixed -- is it seems like they show you the more active profiles early on. 10 minutes last active, an hour, 4 hours, 5 minutes, 1 day, 6 hours, 2 days, in that somewhat random order, with the majority of profiles being at least a day or two days inactive, max. When you scroll through all of those, you get the back catalog. 3 days inactive, 4, 5, a week, etc. You start seeing those because you swiped all the fresh ones.

Or at least that's my theory. That's why I get all my matches within the first two days of making a new account. The first two days I get like 80% of my matches, the last 20% on days three and four, and then nothing after that. Not even if I go on a mass swiping spree. I've said and many before have said, the app needs work. They updated it last week but the app itself is still buggy as fuck. Unless that's the algorithm they're using and it will never change, in which case I'll just keep deleting my account. No big. Probably puts me at the front of the profile list again anyway.

So last week I went surfing in Cape Cod, matched with 20 girls in one night. Hasn't happened since a while in Montreal. 9 were hot and bangable, 2 wanted to meet the same night ( both were way too far..). 5 were downright ugly or fat after seeing the first picture.

I was only staying a night and was dead tired so it definately wasn't gonna happen but cool to know that American girls are not all fat and definately bangable. + they love french. (my highest flag count were all americans)

if you look at it economically, meaning in how they want to monetize the app, how about this: any dollar value of tinder would be in how many unique visitors per day/ week/ month. I've read about algorithms and whatnot, so what if they don't want X% of guys monopolizing the matches? They want as many guys as possible to keep coming to the app, and that only happens if as many guys as possible get matches. So if a guy gets a lot instantly, he doesn't get shown to as many girls for Y days and other guys get pushed to the front of the line.

as far as joke pic, i'm going to a large enough but isolated weekend spot far enough away that it can't affect my hometown tinder, i'm going to try that free candy pic...

It's usually worth it to take a few seconds to come up with something funny and sexual at once. Practice makes perfect, the first couple openers might take a minute but soon they're coming fast and furious. Plus it's good practice for face to face improv banter - thinking on your feet!

I've used both over the last few weeks, cities FTW by far. All small town matches are 15 miles away minimum and Tindered out in a hurry. And who wants to swipe right to someone you know or friends of friends? Not me. With decent pics and game you won't get buried in the city.

I did notice my profile pic(below) got more matches than my normal pic, and I'm not a bad looking guy either. Just like in marketing you need something eye catchy and whitty.

Me personally, even though I know that kind of stuff will warrant more attention, I'm too stubborn to do something like that myself.

In my opinion, being a decent/good looking/above average looking guy with a clever/funny bio should be enough. I'm not here to entertain these women (at least, not yet). It should be enough to have good pictures and for her to say "this guy's attractive and he seems cool, I like him."

It reminds me of that one dude whose profile picture was made to look like he was the Tinder hot match of the day or something. His match rate skyrocketed.

I just think it's sad that women can have all sorts of average, or even bad pictures, have nothing written in their profiles, and get matched, and guys have to peacock and go to comical lengths to stand out.

I concede that we're losing the gender war, but I want to at least close the gap.
