I thought my generation had it bad... Fucking fuck.

Toy apartheid teaches even the kids who identify with their expected gender that they have to identify more with it, that girls and boys belong in separate worlds, that you need clearance from top-level executives at Hasbro before you can buy your brother a toy oven to play with.

I truly feel bad for little boys growing up.

All this junk science that suggests male and female brains are somehow different is just conservative-funded propaganda used to maintain the patriarchy. Gender, as a concept, is a social construct with no basis in reality at all. As per usual, the Swedes get it right. Every time I read a story like this one (or a story that involves their generous welfare state and strong social democracy), I am reminded about how backwards and racist / sexist / homophobic our often-awful country is.

That dryer could make a cool techno-laser in the hands of a 5-year old boy. I guarantee if you let the kid in the picture keep it after the shoot he'd be using it to shoot space aliens by the end of the day.
