Citrus Fruits
This is not a health datasheet, more of an appreciation thread for one of my favorite foods - citrus fruits. They're healthy, they're delicious, and there's a bunch of varieties.

I try to eat a few servings of fruit every day. Most days include some kind of citrus fruit since I always have a bag of oranges or grapefruits in the kitchen.

Health Benefits
High vitamin C content.
Lower blood pressure.
May prevent kidney stones.

Varieties
There are tons of citrus fruits variety due to hybrid breeding.

RE: Citrus Fruits
Citrus fruits are great. A few benefits that to take advantage of are:

-drinking hot lemon/lime water first thing in the morning and last thing before bed. This helps flush out your system and especially your liver with all the toxins that run through there. Also helps with digestion.

-Boost Testosterone levels due to all the Vitamin C(besides grapefruit which impairs estrogen breakdown in your liver)

-High in antioxidants helping to fight against cancer

-Supports better immune system

RE: Citrus Fruits
Good timing.

I was thinking last night how I need to start eating more oranges and grapefruit.

Does anyone know which are best for you?

I take a lot of limes because I drink a lot of Vodka Soda and Lime.

I think they both offer good benefits, maybe some benefits are specific to one or the other. I think the benefit of helping to lower blood pressure is specific to grapefruits. I usually eat an orange every day and a grapefruit every other day.

I get my share of limes, too. Big fan of gin and tonics. I'll squeeze an entire bag of Key limes myself and end up with a cup or two of juice. Secret ingredient for a perfect gin and tonic.

RE: Citrus Fruits
Something I forgot to put in the original post: after you're finished eating an orange, grapefruit, etc. rinse your mouth with water. Citric acid is known to erode tooth enamel.

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone on here is a meathead dork that doesn't drink or smoke and is a nazi about their diet.

Some of us care about enjoying life, enjoying food, partying, getting girls, smoking, drinking, surfing, speed, flexibility, boxing and staying healthy.

After all, you can lift all you want, but you can't work out your temple, your nose or your jaw.

RE: Citrus Fruits
Careful w/massive doses of citrus aka acid.

Esp biting into limes/lemons/oranges.

The acid erodes your enamel and causes erosion and notching on the gingival portion of your teeth.

The stephan curve, summarizes, what happens in your mouth with acid consumption. Any environment w/a pH below 5.5 causes enamel and dentin resorption. Saliva/water helps buffer the pH and minimize damage. This occurs within the next 30 minutes.

Your saliva level slows/minimizes after age 40. This coupled w/most-medications( 80% cause xerostomia, or dry mouth) means acid-buffering takes up to 3-4 times as long.

So, recommend topical fluoride supplements or flushing your mouth w/water after heavy acid consumption. Also eat regular meals and don't snack constantly as it is not just the quantity of food/drink but the frequency.

Babies who have sippy-cups that they can drink all day have horrible teeth....

Science experiment- soak a chicken-bone in coca-cola. Watch it break-down....http://nutritionmythbusters.blogspot.com/2010/10/myth-if-you-soak-chicken-bone-in-soda.html

I could go on and on, but i will leave it at that

So you recommend something like this:

RE: Citrus Fruits
Pediagel is good, but for adults MI-paste+ is better...

http://www.net32.com/ec/mi-paste-plus-as...me-d-77518

For best effect, get a upper and lower-tray nightguard/athletic guard apply small amount inside tray and sit for 10 mins w/it in..

If no trays, apply MI-paste plus before sleep and sleep with it. MI-paste plus remineralizes teeth and one great side-effect is decreased teeth sensitivity especially to cold.

Try not to eat/drink anything afterwards as it will wash the paste away.

Good science behind it.... basically not only buffers teeth w/fluoride but also reverses some of the damage done by acid.

Citrus is great. oGoing nuts on mandarins/clementines right now.

Don't see the point in using fluoride because you ate some acidic fruit. It's not like you're swilling HCl or anything. Just swish a big glass of water around. That's what you'd do if you got a strong acid in your eye. Wash it with water.

Insecure much? I'm not even a bodybuilder, just passed it on for those who are.
And yeah, nose jobs are affordable nowadays.
Caring about smoking is truly weak, though.
