Let's not forget the "no fault" divorce laws as well which have men in this kind of situation in a serious quandry. Basically even if she's cheating, whoring or banging his brother he'll still be on the hook for alimony and child support in this kind of situation. According to the laws, it's as if they are just both walking away from the marriage due to "irreconcilable differences" I believe.

Divorce is typically not fun for men in the Anglosphere and they have a ton to lose, and can go to jail for missing child support payments. Not something to do lightly.

They also probably own the real estate business together so that would be problematic to unwind. Can't imagine it's doing too well now...unless the guy finally mans up and just let's his wife go out and "close the sale."

In a sane world, it would be an easy option for a man to divorce his wife when she becomes a prostitute.

I would think this is a huge unstated reason as to why the husband ended up staying with her.
