I used to get all my house mixes from Ministry of Sound, but they got way too commercial over the years and then my house music supply dried up.

Has anyone heard any good house mixes this year?

Any type of house in particular? Theres so many sub-genres these days its ridiculous. Deep house is the in thing in London. I recommend checking out DJ sets from Jamie Jones, Tini, Maya Jane Coles.

For tracks get the beatport top 100, usually has lots of good ones in there.

Ministry of sound is just complete commercial garbage.

Sort of. Im no DJ but Ill give it a shot.

Deep house is more soulful, alot more emphasis on the bassline and the bottom end. A lot of deep house can sound like shit unless its on a proper thumping sound system. Those Jamie Jones remixes above are an example and also this is one of my recent favs



Tech house is deep too but usually a bit more simple than deep house. Usually not many lyrics, more minimal. That Tini mix that Lothario posted is a good example.

Progressive house is a bit more melodic and kind of "ravey". Usually faster and its more top heavy with less emphasis on the bass line.

Electro house is that chainsaw like sound, very top heavy and very noisy. Architekt posted a good example.

Commercial house is David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris. All the stuff thats popular right now.

Disco House is like old school house. Always lots of pianos and very happy and up-lifting.





If anyone is interested I recommend watching "pump up the volume: the history of house music". Really great doco on how it all started, think its still on youtube.

Yeah, that would be a pretty good example I think.
