I think I took Delta out of SF.

I think Quantas might be better from LA.

Both are direct which is smooth.

Well, seeing as you're already there you've got an idea what the weather is like in the fall months over there. I was in Australia from early April to early May, and in Sydney late April for about a week. There were no women on the beaches as one might not expect, but it is understandable as the seasonal temperatures around this time in Sydney can go as low as below 10 degrees Celsius. The surf will still be good though, as long as you have a wetsuit to prevent freezing your dick off.

I didn't surf at Bondi Beach, but I did go somewhere on the outskirts of the city around a hilly area developed with upper-upper class real estate where the surf was really good (5' to 8'). I can't remember the name of the area, but if you ask a local, they will definitely help you out. Make sure to check out the rocks while you're in Sydney.

If hot weather, beautiful beaches and fine half-naked women is what you're looking for, Cairns is the place to be this time of year. You will not be doing any surfing, however, as the box jellyfish in the waters kill people every year. You can swim in netted areas along the beach, but that's it. There are also tons of unreal jungle tours you can take that are definitely worth it, and plenty of hot women to satisfy you with an equally accommodating nightlife.
Side note: Do NOT fuck with the toads or spiders in Cairns.

Bottom line regarding OZ in April:
Cairns is dope. Hot women, good nightlife, plenty to do.
Sydney is dope, weather can be a bit on the cold side, hot women, great nightlife, great restaurants, plenty to do.

Cairns is a nice small town full of backpackers - and for a reason. Loads of nature/xtreme sports activities to do and beautiful places to visit: jungles and beaches in the north and beautiful hills and moors in south west.

Sydney is a beautiful and intereting city. If you want to visit a really nice suburb, go to Newtown (only a couple of metro stations from the main station). It's a gay suburb but full of nice small cafes, clothing stores, book stores and pubs. Has a nice vibe to it.

Darling harbour has tons of nice restaurants, bars and clubs. . This area is super beautiful also because of the sea and the lights. Quite close to it was one of the casinos, i think. I reckon it's more exensive here than in Kings Cross, which is more a backpacker joint (lots of locals there as well, though)

Personally I find Melbourne as the jewel of Australia.

Can't comment much on gaming in Oz, though. Basically my game sucked when I was there years ago. Besides the occasional backpacker swoop, not much happened. Oh, and the backpacker swoops in the sydney hostels are guarenteed. People have just arrived from Europe and as everything is new to them and they're anxious to get that down under adventure started, it's like taking a candy from a baby! I doubt that this is what Lumiere is looking for, though. It doesn't take long when you get sick of drinking with the 20yo germans and britons (who swarm on the whole east coast of australia)

Also off-the-backpacke-route destinations can reveal a little bit of the true traditional Australia. I went south from Sydney by the coast - no big tourist attractions worth seeing there but the road is as beautifull as the super touristic Great Ocean Road (in victoria, from melbourne to adelaide) and the aussies are super friendly in the small towns. At least for me as a northern european, the friendly atmosphere was really surprising.
