i can give you a breakdown of SP i have spent 5 weeks here working in a hostel. The gringo factor counts for a LOT some girls have been amazed to meet someone from england and are easy to hook up with, the nightlife is awesome though club game can be tough but smoking areas and chill out areas are easy places to meet girls my game is pretty lame (3 girls nailed in 5 weeks here) as i simply done make much effort but i stil do ok when i put in an honest effort and i like to be with someone for a few times not just one night stands. learn a few ice breakers in portugese and you will def score here.. day game i cannot comment on. if you need any ideas for places to go etc just ask but SP is worth a 4 or 5 night stopover.

Thanks Dave, appreciated mate for the info.
I've heard good stuff about Sampa but never really had any incentive to go there. Plus the sheer size of the city kind of freaks me out, in a way.
But I know that I'll have to eventually give this gargantuesque city a try sooner than later.
I do speak Portuguese so no worries on that end and I do have some friends in SP but wanted to get as much info as possible specially form those who have been there.

I see that you're in SP. Okay.... further info about my city.
GRU is another city, Guarulhos. There is another airport in SP named Congonhas in the south side, but is national only.

1. Culture
SP is very mixed, there is plenty of races, imigrants... you will find all colored girls, asian (japas, chinese, korean - the last two may not be very talkative or sociable because they think that they are living in China/Korea still), blond, brunettes and if you go to the right places (Portuguese required) the famous mulatas.
* Museums
Religious art Museum
Portuguese Language Museum (very modern. nice to visit...)
Modern Art Museum in SP(MASP) - A must see, in the famous Paulista Ave.
Modern Art Museum (MAM) - Ibirapuera Park, after that enjoy the view of the girls jogging around the park.
* Old Downtown
The old downtown is dirty, full of beggers, ugly people going and coming but disgised all this ugliness, there are marvelous architectures.
Lots of sights to visit, but you have to follow some tips:
1. Don't ever, ever stay in old downtown by yourself after dark. People don't actually live there, just go to work in most of the cases, so after 8pm is totally empty.
2. Be casual
3. Carefull were you are going to eat, especially in the old downtown. Go to places close to Bovespa Building (our Wall Street), which are more clean and visited by executives and lawers (due to Joao Mendes Court). For snacks you can eat at Aloha Bakery at Rua Direita (direita st), delicious!
4. Go by subway for everywhere as you can: avoid taxis, it is too expensive. During sundays there are guidance by subway to the sights, to further info you have to go in the subway and ask them (ask for info in the green line, they may be more prepared)

São Bento subway station
- Pateo do Collegio: The spot where the city begun
- Bovespa: Wall Street. (lol)
- Ladeira Porto Geral: 1 dollar gifts
- São Bento Church
- Going down the Porto Geral, and walking for 20 min ahead there is... City Market (mercado Municipal), full of goods and exotic fruit. Also I highly recomend the pastel with sugar cane juice (dont drink sugar cane with empty stomach) or mortadella sandwich (it is huge)

Sé subway station
- Se Church

Liberdade Subway station
Liberdade neiborhood is an Asian cultured place, which seels goods, art, mangas, toys from Japan and east Asia. During sundays, there is a street market that you can eat japanese/chinese food. Not a place to game, but to chill and go with friends.

Luz Subway station
Museums
Julio Prestes Train Station

Paulista Avenue + Sorroundings
One of the spots of everything: Culture (MASP), Food (expensive... but good... LOL), parties (underground scene)...
1. Augusta Street
Underground Scene and Gay friendly night clubs. To be a GLS club does not mean much in SP, you may find straight people in there and hot girls running away of the caverman game in straight clubs. Also a hooker spot.
2. Oscar Freire.
Rich people goes there to buy stuff. Cartier, Lacoste and Diesel are some of the stores that you may find there.
3. Love Story: Hookers place. Man are used to like it. I never been there. hahaha

Vila Madalena
Party neigbourhood... the bars are crowded by mid 20 until 50s people looking for a chill out in the satuday afternoon or some action saturday nights... nice place for game.

Vila Olimpia
I don't like it much, full of Patricinhas and 16 year old girls who think they are 25. But... If you are with someone that knows best, let me know.

Itaim
Bar/Happy Hours neighborhood. Close to Vila Olimpia but well visited.

So...I do not know Rio, but the Brazilian women I have met here and in Germany were very game. Someone said earlier that Brazilian girls are not easy and I disagree. I'm not saying Brazilian girl are all easy, but I know that they are casual with kissing and messing around atleast. Think American that likes you and doesn't show it...Brazilian likes you and tells you immediately with a nice wet kiss. Doesn't mean you will bang right away, but they are in general fun.

Someone mentioned Cartegena...I know Colombia but unfortunately only Bogota and not the coast. Apparently its fun, but allot of pros. I'm sure you would have a good time anywhere down there though.

From my take on things, most all of latin America has that laid back feel to it.

I do want to throw in that its usually more fun to have a core group that is into something you are. For instance I have forged allot of tight relationships over sports and music...example: You're into some cool underground bands or something, go find some people there that like the same genre and get to know them. This gives you the foundation for fun. Sometimes its best to make male friends in these foreign countries. Trust me. They will all have cousins, friends, friends of their girlfriends, plus they will take you to better spots to pick up. When you go as a lone gringo you run a high risk of sitting in an Irish pub with a bunch of bloated British dudes, and making out with girls that are there week in and week out before and after you leave, getting free drinks and giving head to old foreign gringos.

Lingo is not a problem for me, but rather time as I'm in Brasil usually for business and on short stints at a time.
Anyways, I think you've convinced me to give Sp at least a try for a few days next time I'm in Paradise aka Brasil.
Funny that you mentioned Love Story. I was watching not long ago a reportage on it on TVGlobo Internacional, on "O programma do Jo". Funny programme. They were basically saying that Love Story is not only a hooker spot, but a place where everyone goes after all the other clubs have closed to party even more. They called Love Story a casa da todas as casas and I guess it's a well fitting name, don't you think?
Now, where/which area of SP would you recommend to stay?

SP is the never sleeping city, for sure. the Love Story closes at 7am I guess. Sometimes when I was going to college I could see people going out of the club.

You've convinced me.

I'm ready to leave Argentina, and I think I'm going to go to Brazil for the month of June. I dont really want to travel around and explore too much so I want to be pretty much decided where to go before I leave. Your advice will make all the difference.

Here is what I'm looking for:

-Lots of sun and warm weather, beach preferably. Average high of at least 75 for June.
-Girls that are warm, lighter skinned, and petite.
-Somewhere good to enjoy watching the world cup with other Brazilians.
-Enough english or spanish speakers to help me get by.

For a first timer to Brasil with little to no Portuguese, I'd say stick to eithe Rio or Fortaleza. Keep in mind that June is winter in Brasil and the further south you go, the colder it will be, specially in cities like Curitiba, Porto Alegre and Floripa. SP can be cold too in June (for that I'd let our resident Paulista aka Chocolatinha chip in). Rio is colder than the rest of the year but still warm enough (say around 25C during the day and 15-20C during the night).
Point 2 about girls being warm and lighter skinned and petite, you can find those pretty much anywhere except in Salvador, Bahia maybe.
Point 3 about good to watch the world cup with other brasilians, then that's pretty much anywhere in Brasil. However, one thing I've noticed and that has been confirmed to me by my Brasilian friends is that when there is a big game involving the National Team, they'd rather watch it at home with a bunch of friends than in a bar. So make some friends and get invited to watch the games at their places. But I'm sure you could still find a good spot in a big city to watch the game in a bar with others. I was in Fortaleza during the Euro 2008 and it was fun as it is filled with Euros there. I'll also be in Brasil for the World Cup, but from July only. I'll be mainly in Rio and either Fortaleza or Manaus so let me know if you'll be in town and we could watch some games together and go hunting together. If anyone else will be in Brasil during the month of July for the WC, let me know and we could meet for some drinks, watching the games and participate with the greatest party on Earth should Brasil win the World Cup for a world record 6th time.

As to which cities I'd suggest would be:
Rio
Fortaleza
Manaus, easiest girls in all of Brasil, super cute, sexy and mega horny chicks. But being in the middle of the Amazon jungle, it can get hot like hell and can rain a lot at times.
Joao Pessoa (on the beach, awesome little town, gorgeous beaches, friendly people and very chill place alltogether)
Buzios and Angra dos Reies (awesome party towns a couple hours outside of Rio)
Paraty, little paradise but best to go there with a girl.
Belo Horizonte would be awesome too but no beach there.

What about Joao Pessoa and Buzios and Angra dos Reies? Ive never heard about these places. Are they good enough to stay for a whole month or are they just good for a weekend?

Look guys, during your summer vacation (july until august), I would stick to the north and center west (Goiania, Bonito) for warm weather.
Here in SP is still warm for now, but I believe in June things are going to be colder (around 15 - 7C) and windy.
It does not mean that you won't enjoy the city since that is not a beach city, but you will miss the oportunity to go to other cities who have beaches (e.g Maresias, Guarujá, Boiçucanga)

You're welcome bro, that's what this forum is about that is to provide accurate and timely info to other brothers in order to help them have the time of their lives.

Fortaleza, it's true that it may not be a babe heaven as say Goiania or Floripa or even Rio or BH, but it has its fair share of hotties. You just need to distance yourself from the hordes of sex toursits, speak Portuguese and have some decent game to have a chance with them. While its true that the typical Nordestina will be with a square head and no neck and a beer belly, it's also true that it was in Fortaleza specially after the sunsets (as during the day, it's hot and humid as hell), that I saw some of the most stunning girls I've seen in Brasil and believe me, I've been around in Brasil! People and girls start strolling past the Beira Mar and jog and you'll be turning your head left and right at the sight of all these hotties in tight jogging pants with bodies to die for and very pretty faces. But as I said, lingo+game required to stand a chance with these little patricinhas.

Anyone who tells you that you won't enjoy Rio without you having been there is telling you a big fat lie. Or maybe they want to keep you away from there in order to keep all the gatas for himself. Jokes asides, no city in Brasil or anywhere for that matter that can match Rio for the nightlife and cool chill atmosphere. However, you must distance yourself once again from the hordes of sex tourists, stay outside of Copacabana and speak some lingo and have game. You'll have a ball in Rio I garantee you up that Rio will blow your mind, specially if it's your first time in Brasil and you come straight to Rio. Be prepared for some mega partying and to have insane headaches for turning your head every nano second.

Joaoa Pessoa, is a very nice, clean city in the North. I'll post more about it on the Outside Touristy Path in Brasil thread. So stay tuned. Idem for Buzios, Angra dos Reies.

Chocolatinha is right that in June/July/August, it does get cold in the southern areas of Brasil but in Rio, it gets cooler but still very enjoyable, say in the mid 20's in the daytime and high teens at night. Very pleasant for Euro/North Americans and chilly for Brazucas.

All in all, don't listen to anyone telling you otherwise about Rio. Just have your guards up, bring your A+ game and bring loads of cash as Rio ain't cheap, specially if you want to live it up. And you'll have the time of your life. Fuk-ing Garanteed!

Well, the people I met in Vitoria were a lot of fun, and people were very friendly. The women are much hotter than the women in Rio. Honestly I don't think Rio is any better than Las Vegas, and I'm a lot more into Brazilian girls than Americans. The women are harder to get with than in Rio, but the reward should be greater. I'm sure if you were going to get with a girl in Rio as hot as some of these girls in Vitoria, they would be just as hard to pull. The clubs of Vitoria are good and have a great girl to guy ratio. Guarapari has awesome beaches and the town is full of college kids and the like in summer. The beaches of Vitoria suck, but you can find yourself other things to do. Honestly, as far as activities to do during the day, I'll say Rio is a little better, but nightlife, definitely Vitoria. Plus you aren't paying R$100 every time you go out. But you are paying R$75 for a room, so it balances itself out I guess. I wrote a big thread on Vitoria on this forum, check it out.

You definitely seem like the resident expert on towns outside of Rio. I read all your posts about Vicotira, but how's overall livability in Vitoria and Guarapari? How hard is it to get a temporary apartment? Is English/Spanish enough to get by there?

This is very true in Argentina. Cold approaches here are almost pointless, but once you have a mutual friend the game changes COMPLETELY.

I think most girls period are both bitches and sweethearts simultaneously. Just depends who you are. No matter how bitchy a girl is, she is sweet to some guy who is of higher value than her. I had trouble finding a temporary apartment after I stopped staying with my friends, but I was only going to be there very temporarily. Something like a month and a half. But then again, I didn't go out of my way really to try. It was just tough because I didn't really know where to look and everything was in Portuguese. I asked my girl to check around but I felt like she didn't try very hard either. I mean, you can definitely get by with English/Spanish, but you will have a lot more fun with Portuguese. You will need to know some basics for the store and hotels though. People that are working at those types of places aren't going to know english unless maybe you are staying at a very expensive hotel, which I don't think there are many in Vitoria. I can help you out with those things though if you need anything simple like that. I wouldn't suggest living in Guarapari though. It's more of a weekend retreat. It would be fun during their summer, but I think it's better to live in Vitoria and then go to Guarapari on the weekend, definitely try and befriend a person with a house out there. I honestly don't think that would be too hard to do. I have probably 5-6 friends with a house out there and everyone else knows someone with a house.

Yeah, of coarse this is true, but I think overall in Argentina girls are just a lot colder on approaching not having been introduced by a friend.For example with Argentine girls, I feel like even if the girl thinks your cute she might still tell you to fuck off, where as in Brazil she would be receptive to you. I'm not saying example is true or not, but just an example.
