Adopting instead of ever getting married
Hey guys I read some posts about marriage in north america and got pretty depressed realizing that marriage in with today's laws is a gamble because I want to pass on a legacy for the future through having kids. A couple of weeks ago I heard my parents talking about some extended family members and found out that one of my relatives (2nd cousin) is basically an orphan now. His mom left after he was born and his dad is basically a deadbeat who disappeared after a few years who has had a history of alcoholism and gambling. I've met him a few times, but didn't know about his situation. My relative currently lives with his grandmother who takes care of him for now. Would it be a good idea to adopt him?

What do you guys think?

It could work. It will give you a project in life and you won't get lonely.

Yes if it's your blood and you have time. You will have to deal with both parents for 18 years though trying to sponge off you etc etc.. I would never let any of my relatives suffer unless they really really deserve it

There are legal consequences to this. If you do decide to adopt the child formally make sure you receive legal advice as you should know the rights that you will receive / the child and all interested parties.

It might hinder your social life a little bit. Bright side is there's no crazy bitch to deal with.
You'll get a lot of respect and support from your family. Let them babysit anytime you wanna
bring some bitch home for the night.

When I want a child I'm just going to have him/her in a country without a reciprocal child support agreement.

Id support without involving the state. Thisway if the kid is alright as a person you still will have a son. If his parents deadbeat genes win over your life still be ok

I agree with Calihunter. You may believe otherwise but there is a nature/nurture aspect to everyone's personality. In college they teach 50-50 nature/nurture. I believe that a person's genes tend to take over, to what degree can your upbringing influence a person? I have no idea, but read up on cons of adopting. Its not uncommon in Teenage years for an adopted child to become unappreciative and outright reject you. Be the cool uncle who was always there for him, do it because its the right thing to do; but dont make it your legal responsibility to raise this kid.

What about impregnating a hot bitch in a 3rd world country, paying her to be a surrogate mother, and taking the kid back with you to the US to raise on your own?

Same question! What about impregnating a hot girl in and let her deal with the kid until they are 10 y.o or so an and then bring the kid back with you? Cuba comes to mind. they have socialized healthcare and no way they can get you for child support. I met many girls who had a kid from an American or Canadian there.

I want to pass on my genes, but I'm not sure I want to raise a kid who's genetically unrelated to me.

RE: Adopting instead of ever getting married
Romans did it all the time, and they were the alpha as fuck.

I believe it was Bacon (Francis) who said that until the age of 7, a child should only be raised by women. Thereafter only men.

That said the nuclear family is an ideal we strive to precisely because it makes raising children so much easier compared to alternative household arrangements. Had it not been for all the ills of post-modernism it'd still be like that.

But alas... marriage no longer offers the rights and duties to both sides it once did, and therefore Westerners will slowly decrease in numbers, asking "why, why, why?".

A year from now you'll wish you started today

RE: Adopting instead of ever getting married
if you really want to have kids do what women who cant find a man do . . . hire a surogate. that way the child will be yours and no bitch can take the child from you, raise it and demand child support if things dont work out.

adoption is certainly another alternative but if you want to pass on your dna go with a surogate.

also ask yourself how badly you want to have kids. because these measures are going to require alot of money and time and you need to be sure your willing to commit to it. whatever you decide just make sure youve thought out every angle.
