for real, this might be a valid thing to bring up again.

i go to the gym in the morning early. Im not a big talker anyway unless im high & drunk, but in the morning I hate everybody and I hate life and it takes me 2 hrs to wake up. It just so happens that in this new yuppie shithole I moved into the older cougars think Im attractive at first, they open me, im in no mood to make small talk, so they gossip amongst themselves and the older prowling men that I'm untalkative and an outsider. yeah, that's life.

for the things that I have been icebroken with:
"wow, i saw you here yesterday. you come here everyday!!!!!" spoken as a statement (key point)
"are you about to compete"
"is this a good exercise for my lower back/shoulder/leg? it has been really hurting me recently"
"that is perfect pullup form!!!!! I wish I could do that"

an icebreaker is an icebreaker. that is all. it's not about what you say, but how you say it. and there is no one right way how to say anything, because it depends on the crowd you're with.

its a gym just talk to people normally. then introduce yourself. everyone is going there to look and feel better. although with that being said a gym probably isn't the best place for typical fat bulker to be approaching. while most of the girls there are trying to better themselves, I find fit girls tend to be more attracted to lean guys be it they are very large and muscular but still lean.

i've never picked up a girl at the gym nor have any of my friends. i've seen a couple funny attempts but really its not much of a spot for pickup. if you want to pickup why not take spin bike classes and the likes and suggest to grab a some food or whatever. i think that would be more conductive to approaching.

guys in really good shape will undoubtedly have a huge advantage in "gym game" even more so than elsewhere.

in my area gym is all about social circle. get to know everyone. you'll see them at parties. either invite yourself or make the party yourself. it is not the ONS mentality, it builds up over several weeks. much more rapport and comfort and very casual flirting than anything direct. enjoy talking to the girl, and nothing more. one thing leads to another with a little direction from you eventually.

If you have a good body and clearly know what you're doing. A compliment will get her hamster going.

She won't know if you are trying to pick her up or if you're just a physique dilettante.

I never did good with women working out, but I always did really well with the women that work there; aka Front desk...

Suit game works really good at the gym, when you come into the gym straight from work you seperate yourself from a lot of the other guys...

Yeah chains which have sales staff are often hot girls. 24 hour gyms to me don't seem to have the numbers of quality women that independent or regular gyms do. One of the donesides of my gym which is very handy and convenient is that there are far fewer hot women that go there. The big gyms seem to have more quality women, from what I have seen in Australia.

Off the top of my head:

1. Be serious about your workout. Fit girls come there to exercise and so should you. Working on a strong and durable body should be your main goal. The rest is a fun bonus.

2. Be social. Talk to everyone, not just the cute girls. You are the kind of guy that befriends all the guys and flirts with all the girls, also that 70 year old grandma. Don't be silent and then approach the hot girl, that's obvious to everyone.

3. Ignore the hot girls. When you're working out or waiting in between sets, don't stare at those asses in yoga pants. Only look at the girls when you talk to them.

4. Look sharp. Sure, you won't be suited up. But you should not walk around in dirty clothes with a bad fit. Keep your sweatpants/shorts and tee/tanktop as well as your towel fresh.

Be a cool guy that naturally gets to know the other people while you're working out. Instead of being on your phone, say 'hi' to someone, regardless of whether or not this is a cute girl.

I once got a girl hooked when I was challenging her to deadlift more weight. After she said it was painful, I looked her in the eyes and said with a smirk: "You look like the kind of girls that enjoys a bit of pain once in a while." Nobody else could hear that, of course.
