There are plenty of mom n pops all along the I-10, as there are pretty much everywhere.

Do you mean to say there are better mom n pops elsewhere?

I meant that in a very tongue in cheekish way. But when on many of these US routes, there are no exits. It's more of a, "that looks like an interesting restaurant, bar, store. Let's pull over here" experience as opposed to "let's get off at exit 274 and see what happens."

Ah, I see now you were taking a little jab at democrats, I suppose. In all seriousness though, seeing the small restaurants and eateries is one of the cool parts of a road-trip.

I-10 has exits--there's not much of it that is like a route which looks kind of like hybrid freeway/street.

In my time on the I-10, I only stopped for appreciable periods of time in the bigger cities so I would be curious to hear more from any members who have run "small town game" about what they've done and how it worked.

By "along the I-10", I mean in the cities/towns that the I-10 runs through.

Certainly I'm not suggesting that guys stay within 200 meters of the exits for a 2,400 mile road trip from coast to coast.

I see what you mean, if you stay a while some place you can meet people. But subjectively, I feel the left behind towns do retain something the highway burns out. For instance I went to Bemidji MN a few years ago, and it is def different from small cities on the main track.
