Can I use the Iphone in South America?
Can I unlock an Iphone AT&T from the States in South America and use it with a new sim card over there?

Also, what other travel stuff should I bring with me? I'm gonna get a lock for my laptop...
I already have a backpackers backpack...

I plan on going on side trips to Macchu Picchu, maybe Bolivia and recommendations, and Santiago Chile and ValP always wanted to see those cities.

Any other recommendations for side trips?

My plan as of now is Cordoba, Argentina Sept-Dec, Lima Jan-March then Medellin April-August (could change)

I may leave for SA earlier we'll see... Keep in touch fellas!

Currently traveling around Asia come join me on the LS Blog.

An iPhone must be jailbroken AND unlocked to be able to use it with ANY sim carrier. However, if you've updated your phone to the latest firmware update of 3.1.3 then you'll have to wait for about 2 months for a hack to be released.

You can find all the information you need regarding jailbreaking and unlocking your iPhone here:

optionally, to customize the Theme on your iPhone once it's jailbroken and unlocked, go here:

Don't expect to have 3G there though.

3g (and some places 4g) is widely available in Latin America.

That's quite a sneaky way to spam your ipad2 links dickhead, hiding them in Mixx's quote. But, at least you kept your reply travel related.. spammer.
