The new media model means reporters try to throw themselves into the stories rather than to neutrally (though neutrality is never possible) report the fact.

So you send a reporter to a rally hoping something goes wrong.

Then you have a new story.

The media outlet is happy because it draws views. The reporter is thrilled because it gives her attention.

It's a win-win from the new media's perspective.

Our problem is that we are drawn to those stories like flies on crap, which perpetuates the model.

In situations where Muslim men target women, a clear understanding of the epic levels of hypocrisy, double standards, exploitation and racism at work is helpful. They would not have targeted her if she had been wearing a veil and appeared to be a Salafist devotee for example ( I don't know if she is in fact a Muslim herself or not, but I think her name is of Tunisian origin and she seems to be secular in her lifestyle).

Visit Egypt or any other Muslim ruled state and all will soon become clear to you; the general deal on offer is that they want to fuck your women- but if you so much as look at theirs, you are taking serious risks with your safety.
