This was talked about ad nauseum on WFAN today. The only reason it's in the news is because it's October and A-roid is choking yet again.

Yep. The NY media in particular, and ESPN, love crushing this chump. And he always gives them plenty of ammo. Even with Justin Verlander, a pitcher he's had career success against, pitching tonight, they're still benching him. And they're saddled with his deteriorating skills for a few more years. When he opted out of his previous contract, Brian Cashman vowed they'd let him walk away. Instead, he gave him a raise. Serves him right.

The Post is a tabloid and will do and say anything to sell papers. Mike Francessa was actually defending A-roid all day today against the many, many callers complaining about his action. As a Mets fan, I have no stock in it. I'm just enjoying the drama and watching the Yankees crash and burn.

Not to stay too far off topic, but I think the biggest mistake that he made was signing for the Yankees in the first place. If he had signed for the Mets, he would have more than likely become the King of New York. I think he grossly underestimated the pressure that comes with playing in the Bronx.

Fellow Met fan here. The story with the Mets was that his "people" supposedly wanted A-Rod to have his own press office or something along those lines. They felt his presence would have been divisive with the requests for special treatment. He definitely didn't anticipate the pressure of being a high-paid star with the Yankees. The scrutiny on New York athletes in general is ridiculous, but when it comes to baseball, only the Red Sox get fucked with as hard by their local media, or have fans that are as critical and quick to turn on you if they sense any bitch in you.

Dude could have gone in the Public Announcer's booth and spoke into the mic, "How many of the cute chicks in this stadium want to fuck me?" and had a line forming outside before he stood up.

That ball stunt seems less "ballsy" than strange in his context.

This was the point I was trying to make. A-Rod can get away with this middle school style game b/c he's A-Rod. Non-famous people would have a lot less success passing number around this way

Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that the combined age of two on the outside doesn't exceed 28.
