Hey guys,

I've been thinking about this topic for some time.
So many girls we know are posting on Facebook and other social networks lots and lots of photos of wild parties or sexy mirror self shots.
Since face recognizing apps are getting better each day it will be very easy in the future to recognize them, even without having access to their social networks profile.
I'm wondering if all this girls knows or simply ignores how having these types of pictures may give them problems in landing a good (white-collar) job in the future.
On an even more dramatic level the quantity of amateur porn online is simply endless, of course this means that it's harder to find someone that you may know because it gets lost in thousands of videos, but at the same time whatever goes on the internet stays there.

Lastly, I'll advise you to be careful to post embarassing photos of your self because in the future the same photos have the potential to harm you.

Are my worries excessive or do you agree that having provocative/slutty or erotic pics on the web can really harm girls?

anything you post online can be used against you. once it's posted it's there. i don't really know where it goes even if i delete something. i remember i once deleted slideshow video i had posted on facebook only to find it few months later somewhere in some kind of archive or who-the-fuck-knows-where. but i found it. weird.

so yeah i agree. to me even having internet profile with your proper name and surname is stupid, let alone some embarrasing pictures. who really knows if it's actually as private as settings suggest.

but girls don't think straight. i think they post it right then and there while they're in the middle of the party. that's the only explanation i can come up to understand such dumb act. cause when they post that stuff the day after they're retarded to the max IMO.

What makes you sure that your son / daughter, isn't going to make the same mistakes with online contents?

It's pretty easy to do the facial recognition thing already, and it will only get easier.

If you have basic programming skills you can set up a script that you can feed pictures of someone and then find every other picture of that person. Right now it takes serious computing power to do a comprehensive crawl, but it's becoming easier to do.

In the proof of concept I saw someone was running pictures from OKCupid against public Facebook pictures to find OKC users' real identities.

I predict that within 10-15 years the bar will be significantly lowered as more people have mildly embarrassing pics online.
