I agree. No point in attacking her. It's the voters. I'm guessing there was tremendous pressure to choose a black woman due to the 50 year civil rights anniversary. I just don't know why they choose this particular black woman.

What was the voting mechanism? Maybe it was some drawn out procedure or had low turnouts, ensuring only fattie defenders voted.

Maybe the hot white girls were thinking, 'well, we have to appoint a black girl at some appoint, and probably a fat one too, so why not get 'em both at once?' Or the hot black girls don't even participate? Even at very liberal school, the cool black people and the cool white people often occupy very different scenes. Has to be a race element. We'd need to know more about the nomination process, who else was running, etc. It's just incredible to believe that there were simply no attractive black girls running for this thing and that this was the best of the bunch. It's like when TV shows have contests, and the guys from 4Chan or reddit or whatever will semi-troll by voting for someone way out of the mainstream (they did something like this with Oprah and the cerebral palsy guy, although he was legit talented and very likeable).

Honestly, who cares? If racism is a factor, and it probably is, well guess what?

If the historically most virulently racist part of America expresses its bigotry by voting for morbidly obese black chicks for college homecoming queen... well, that's progress.

Progress for race relations in the deep South. As far as obese American chicks go, this is another omen - anything goes as long as you have a decent smile. Meanwhile, fat guys are worthy of lifelong celibacy.
