Transferring conversations from audio recorder to computer?
Hey fellas, some time ago I bought an Olympus "Note Corder" and have since recorded several conversations on it, some hilarious, some in the field, etc.

Looks like this:

Problem is, it only has a headphone jack, no cable to transfer recordings to the computer. Anyone have ideas as to how I might use a stereo cord like this:

For recording files from the headphone jack to MP3's on my computer?

total recorder does it. you have to pay for it, though. But you can always go the virtual 5 finger discount route.

also, check out download.com and search for "recorder." Some will be free to try or free completely.

Question: do you have an Iphone or an Android phone? Because they both have cheap/free recorder apps that you can easily transfer to your pc.

Nope. I still have a classic Nokia like this:

Could I perhaps use a stereo cord to connect my recorder to the computer, and use the Windows' Sounder Recorder in the accessories folder?

Oh crap, I forgot about the Windows recorder. Yeah, should work. Come back and let us know for sure . . .

if you have a sound card with an "in" jack you can connect the headphone jack of the device to the input of the sound card.

I used to do this a super long time ago to convert cassettes to mp3, and also record the output of various audio equipment directly into my desktop.

on a modern laptop you may be able to use a USB sound "card", like this:

and plug your device into the mic jack. you will still need software to actually record it, but that should be the easy part.
