Jim - I think with the proliferation of digital media being available to anyone with a broadband connection (broadband is great in Kiev) most young people in 2nd world economies (Ukraine etc) and better are dressing in a very global homogenous fashion. Theres much less idiosynchronicity in different countries now. All the girls I met were more up to date on Gossip Girl etc than I was and apart from the lack of designer brands, dressed much the same as the girls I saw in Manhattan a week after leaving Kiev.

Obviously the elite can afford to stand out a bit more in both Kiev and NY.

I can couch that the Kiev food is horrible. I'm actually typing this from the shitter right now.

My last night here. At the club but so tired. Also my "girlfriend's" friends are here so can't really do much anyway.

I second that, I have the squirts right now also. A common occurance in Ukraine.

I went to the hospital and they gave me some miracle drug called "Enteros Gel". It's a tasteless paste that you swallow and it absorbs all the nasty shit. Blocks you up for a while, but then after that you're fine.

The Doctor also said that if you take it before drinking you will not get drunk or have a hangover!

I went to Shooters a couple of times in September. It was "almost" within walking distance from my apartment near Metro Pecherski.
The door staff are welcoming. There is a cover charge, though it includes a first drink. I think it had to be Vodka or Whiskey with an energy drink. May have been free entry before 11pm, but I never made it.
Not a particularly large place, although there is the attached restaurant as well.
The management seem to have created a kind of "family" feel and you sense that there are several regulars there.
The crowd seemed to be foreigner friendly. Both times I got talking in English to local guys and girls without much effort.
I did not think that the average physical standard or the ratio of women was as good as you find randomly in the street in Kiev though.

By Doctors maybe you mean Hospital bar. I was there in summer 2011. It is located a bit out of the way in a basement off a rear courtyard, like so many places in the FSU. I went there with a few guys. Our leader had local knowledge just to find it.
The novelty drinking stuff they do with the straight jacket, helmet, etc is quite entertaining, but the night I was there the ratio of guys was probably 2:1. It is mostly a seated at tables type of setup, not particularly large.
