I know we make fun of the Washington Post's date lab here a lot, but the NYT is also a rich source of beta couplings and obvious fails, except the stakes are much higher. The people in the NYT got married!

This article is just full of the classic shy beta and slutty girl thing we are always carping about. This guy doesn't even realize that girls like this are a dime a dozen in her home country, but she has been "upgraded" with American features such as being aggressive, liking bad boys, and spending money wantonly.

She looks good for her age. She's going to hold up, but that still doesn't make any less of a raw deal for this beta provider chump. She's definitely going to cheat on him and divorce rape him afterwards.

I like how "I'm the one who spends a lot of money!" would almost never be criticized because she says it. If he had said it, a bunch of the harpies in the comments section would go "he better mature and focus on supporting his family rather than wasting money."

Most of the NY Times wedding annoucements are either high society types, or those aspiring to be. It's a status thing to have your announcement published, because SO many submit and only a few make the cut. There's definitely an attention-whorish aspect to it.

I don't have an issue with having a cat, but his attachement to it is extreme. The cat was referenced in the wedding vows? Whoa. And lets see how "balanced" they are when this bitch starts spending too much money. They both have good jobs, so he'd better make sure the credit cards and bank accounts stay separate. Have a joint account for home-related bills, etc., but that's it. Also, if things go sour, don't think she won't use the whole "I gave up the career I wanted and moved to a place I didn't want to live for you" bit on him. I could see him being the kind of guy that has the scarcity mentality. It took all kinds of circumstances falling into place for him to step up to this chick, that he wouldn't have dreamed of letting her go for fear of never finding someone better. I hope it works out for him.
