but isn't that essence of the theories surrounding the similarities between humans and bonobos? That essentially limiting the number of your or your wife's sexual partners leads to sexual frustration and boredom, which is a key reason for divorce.

I admit, I'd probably struggle with that, but I think there is some truth to it.

Nice bump, that was a good read. I'm pretty sold on never getting married. I'd probably do a cohabitation/contract type thing via Blackdragon but I'll never sign on to the sham of modern marriage.

And personally I could never be ok with a woman I really care about/love taking another man's dick. Call it "outdated biological programming" or a "double standard" or whatever, but it would definitely ruin it for me.

Women do not care as much about sex as men do. It is an emotional need for women, not physical. Hence, as long as she is emotionally fulfilled (family to take care of, a husband who can lead) then she will never feel the need to have sex with other men (unless perhaps if she's been on the cock carousel before you wifed her up, in which case you made a mistake in the first place).

As men we have an innate need for sexual variation. Women do not. Hence, an open relationship where your wife is allowed to sleep with other men should be out of the question.

When I was younger I wanted to get married as my parents had a long and happy marriage and I wanted that for myself. But the older I get and the more stuff I have to lose, the less keen I get on it.
The idea that I could lose 40%-50% of what I have worked to build and acquire just because I made the wrong choice in a spouse, or because she decides she has, scares the crap out of me.

Add to that the way I see a lot of older guys complain about their wives or go through messy divorces, it just adds fuel to the fire.
And now, some of the people I went to school with are getting divorced or their marriages are going down the toilet.
One of my best mates tells me every other day not to get married and he's only been married 2 years!
