Putting a hand on your chest/over your heart? I find it a very convincable gesture to make when talking to a girl. It shows to a girl that you're really saying something from the heart/deeply emotional (even if you don't mean it). It helped me out of a lot of drama or times that a girl was not sure about me. I think there's some deeper biological stuff behind this but don't know how to explain it.

Closest example that I could find is this clip. It's a party song in Dutch (not club song) by two not so famous guys if you don't know the scene. The girl in the video is exactly my type although her dancing moves aren't really special to say the least. The lyrics are quite women unfriendly and it's a pretty catchy song.

The guy makes the move at 2.34. It's not exactly how I use it when flirting but it is similar to when i'm talking angry with a girl (like the guy in the clip) or when i'm talking myself out of drama.

Anyone else using this move or has some opinion on it ?

While my left hand is positioned in that manner I also have my right hand palm up and near my waist.

No, not really. Maybe only a small part of Dutch people. Lets say blue collar people or people without jobs but not all ofcourse. I fit both descriptions.

It's like country music in the States. It's popular with many but not the mainstream population.

These guys are from the south of Holland which is known to be "gezellig" a word that can't be translated.

Not sure about the right hand positioning but you're spot on in your last sentence. It is a posture for those behaviors. I think it conveys deep emotions to a girl when you either feed sappy words to her or trying to talk yourself out of some straight drama/accusation.

It was common during the '80s to put the hand on the side of the heart when talking to women.
Here a Greek comedy with Greek style kamaki(pick up).





The dialogue is funny:
The guy:Hi,I am kamaki.
Girl:I do not undestand.
Guy:I am from Kalamata(Greek city)
Girlo what?
Guy:We in Kalamata are too much of a guy(meaning too macho too masculine)
The other guy comes and picks him from the ear:Are you too much of a guy in Kalamata?
Guy(with gay voice):Not everyone.Bye.

The only ones I ever see using that sort of body language are european or middle eastern.

americans don't do that.

Depends of the way you do it.

Turkish guys here do this a lot, and they do it in the same way as the guy in the vid: very fast movements with a lot of submissive shoulder moves and approval seeking body language.

If you really have to do it, do it slowly, only with one hand (the one you use for slight gesticulations in conversations, the other one should be for your drink), relaxed but dominant pose, and no breaking of eye contact. See 0:33 of the vid and add the relaxed touching of your heart to that body language.

I'd bet Steve's got more game the Ryan in real life. He plays this nice guy beta all the time, but he's probably the opposite in real life. Kind of like Bob Sagat.

YES!

This is funny.

A few days ago I was talking to a group of girls, talking about values and stuf.

Apparently when I was saying "I really feel like" or "to me X is very important" I would have my right hand up on my left chest where my heart is. They adored it. And I took note.

Do this heart felt motion when you talk about how family and close friends are very important to you, like the genuine protector you are (or should be).
