Date Lab sets girl up with a blind dude
For a second he thought she was falling in love with him:
Quote:David: Hopefully I didn’t misinterpret anything, but when we started to take pictures, she came over to my side of the table and sat next to me, which I thought was pretty nice, and I assume that if she was not interested in flirting, she wouldn’t have come to that side of the table. And then we took a couple of pictures standing up, and she easily put her arm around me, which I thought was pretty cute.
You already know the result:
Quote:David called Holly about a second date, but she declined.

Lesson in this: even if you're blind, you still need to make the pussy moist.

God I fucking hate the Post not allowing you to see the article a second time.
I skimmed the article, but I didn't see this girl do anything especially objectionable. She seemed pretty well mannered and pleasant.
While I disagree that she was one of the cuter girls, I do agree that it seems like she was decent about it. She said...
Quote:I noticed that he had a very self-deprecating sense of humor. Which is great: You’re not taking yourself too seriously, but it was a little bit over-the-top almost. Like at one point, I asked him if he had a housemate, and he said, “Well, I do have this 91 / 2-year-old cat, and she’s my longest female relationship.” I don’t know if I would say that on a blind date. And not just because I’m not really into cats.
Which I find to be fantastically spot on. The guy's half-blind and it's good to have a bit of humour about that, but if he is too hard on himself then it comes across as awkward and maybe just a little bit of a pity party thrown in there too.
There's also something else that stood out for me too. He said...
Quote:When the waiter came over, I was like, “Well, I’m going to be one of those crazy vegetarians here,” and she was like, “Oh, I’m a vegetarian, too.” [It surprised me] how many things we did have in common. I’ve never met someone who’s a vegetarian biker, runner and ultimate Frisbee player and who does yoga. Which, with my hippie tendencies, would seem like somebody I would always come across. Usually I might get one of those characteristics, but a compendium of all of them was very nice.
Looking back on the previous Date Lab and also at similar situations, something is occurring to me...
Nowadays it seems like men, more than women, care about what they 'have in common' with a potential partner. But they don't realise that it's all bollocks; pick out any girl in the universe and I can probably string some tenuous connections with her because we might both like fish, or Southern Comfort, or have the same star sign - even though deep down we could be very incompatible.
I have pretty much nothing in common with the girl I'm dating at the moment, but we've been seeing each other for months and our way of thinking (in regards to social issues) and humour is similar. Guys think that if they can reel off 'things in common' with the girl then they have some sort of connection with them, but at the end of the day it comes down to your own Game and chemistry with the girl above everything else.
The sad thing is, the girls seem to realise this. Note how she doesn't talk about having anything in common with him at all, but rather focuses on his general character.

Women don't want to hear about relationship success because there's no drama in that. Think about every time you hear women discussing relationships.
"So how are Dave and Rachel doing?"
"Oh they're great, they're like a dream couple"
"Uh huh."
Conversation ends.
Compare that to:
"So Rachel went through Dave's phone and found all these dirty texts from his ex girlfriend"
"NO HE DIDN'T. What a fucking douche, typical guy. Why are men such pigs?"
"Tell me about it, you remember when she went through the same thing with Alex, and Steve before that."
"God, that poor girl. Still she hasn't exactly been good either.."
and on and on and on for the next fucking 45 minutes.
This gets reflected in the media with shit like The Bachelorette and here, Date Lab. Women feed off of drama, and they feed off of seeing relationships fail. It satisfies this hyperactive complex in the modern western women to weed out 99.99999% of male suitors in the irrational effort for her to build the ultimate nest for herself. Presumably, so they are promised, there's a man out there, the 1 out of a billion, that will satisfy her in every way.

You make a very good point here. I've noticed the same thing-as my game has improved, whether of not I have anything "in common" with a girl has dwindled to almost zero in importance, at least in terms of getting the bang. Besides, I have a very broad range of interests and good conversational skills so I can always talk about something the girl is interested in. But, as you note, that mysterious thing called chemistry has to be present at least at a minimal level-that's all I need to begin to escalate the relationship. Whether or not we have the same interests, tastes, hobbies doesn't really matter.
On the issue of disability and girls, I'm reminded of a guy I went to college with. He was blind and in a wheelchair and appeared to have only limited use of his arms. Birth defects, I suppose. But he was a goodlooking guy-sort of the sensitive artistic type of look. Obviosly he was mentally normal and although i never knew him from what i observed he appeared to have a good personality.
This guy constantly had hot girls as his helpers- they would show up at the end of class to guide him across campus to his next class. And I don't mean a couple, he had a rotation of numerous ones over the course of the school year. I always wondered if these girls were sexually servicing him as well. I have to believe he must have gotten at least a BJ from time to time.

comments to this thing are great if you want to pop a blood vessel (i typically avoid mainstream comments sections like the plague, too much white-knightery/grrl worship)
Quote:First thing I noticed was the 4 year age gap. May not seem like much, but 32 & 28-yearolds can have very different wants & needs.
rolleyes
Quote:I don't think there is anything wrong with either of them, they are both very nice, there are no baddies, and there is nothing for which either of them can be reproached. It just didn't work out.
this is basically the shitty platitude all women upvote/like/fellate madly because it doesn't assign blame to anyone, it's super feel-good and they also get to say "i hope he finds a great woman who deserves him" to make themselves look like saints
fuck i hate women sometimes

I've never cared about having anything in common with a chick. I think with most, coming from similar backgrounds or cultures can be important, but not interests. All I've ever needed was to be attracted to her, and not have her be annoying. You can figure out the rest as you go along. You may end up finding out that you like some of the same things, or one of you may introduce the other to something they end up liking, but having those things in place from the start is overrated.
