RE: Moving to Asia
Hey man,

I've been living in Taiwan for almost two years. I work for an international school. You do need a teaching degree and generally speaking, experiencing teaching in your home country. I make close to $4000 a month.

Moving to Asia was one of the best choices I made, from a financial, social and dating perspective. As you know, dating will be the least of your worries in Asia and it is more of a matter of how much time you have/want to dedicate to it.

In a country like Taiwan, teaching English isn't a bad gig (I personally don't teach English). Chances are you will pull in about $2000 a month. You can earn more but you will have to be working a lot of hours and you only get paid for what you are actually teaching. You can always pick up some extra private tuition on the side. You aren't going to balling on this money (particularly if you live in Taipei) but you'll have enough for a small apartment, a scooter, eat out at local meals and go out for drinks a few times a week (nowhere fancy often though).

You are still at school, and taking a year off after university won't look bad on your CV, if anything it will show some balls and character. You can organise accomodation and possibly a job after you land, or try and pick one up before you land.

Alternatively, you can try and get a job in your area, which will obviously require a lot more work and be harder to do. In the next year, you could try your best to learn an Asian language which will make you seem more desireable.

Good luck
