Roosh has closed this topic--appropriately--but I'd like to post the following clarification for the sake of further settling this issue.
I posted that meme of Mixx as a way of adding some light-heartedness to a serious topic. My track-record around here will show that I like memes, for all kinds of situations. I took that image from Mixx's youtube channel, which continues to be active and fully public. I would never violate any member's, or even former-member's, privacy (regardless of my opinions of them or their contributions) with something they were trying to keep private--even under Bush-style water-boarding. Remember: I even
protect the IDs of the rudest fatties and epic bitches that I post from online dating sites.
Despite the "public" nature of the image, I still worried that it was a bit much almost immediately after posting it, and that it might have the opposite effect than I intended--coming off as mean-spirited. I, of course, confirmed this when some members reacted the way they did. I was already, in the course of my day, thinking about contacting Roosh to delete the image. When I finally logged back on this afternoon, to do exactly that, I saw that he had already acted on it.
My views of Mixx's actions--positive
and negative--stand. I've never denied that he did a lot for the forum when he was here, but some of his actions toward the end also have taken away. This most recent move is in poor taste, in my opinion. I'm not "tar and feathering" the guy, piling on, or saying something that I wouldn't have said when he was active--if he'd pulled that kind of stunt. We all, over the course of (literally)
thousands of posts, will say and do dumb things. I would expect civilized criticism for any shitty action on my own, and have received it--as in this thread. I will reply as intelligently and respectfully as I am approached. I'm not going ad-hominem on the guy; I'm being measured and precise about my criticism. I think these are the expectations around here with any kind of "call-out," just like you can't just call a guy a cocksucker for no reason, and that many things are better done in private.
I haven't been asked by Roosh, or anyone else to say any of this, but I wanted to leave things clear. I respect this place--and its members--and don't want to contribute to any kind of poisonous influence. Part of the reason I'm saddened and offended by what's happened, vis-a-vis this Mixx situation, is my genuine affection for this (virtual) community. This isn't just "data" for me--it's a rare place where a group of guys like this can talk, share, and laugh a bit.
As both moderator
and member, I sometimes find myself in the strange position of having both
an opinion and additional responsibilities for my words and actions. In either one of two roles, I'm not above backing away from something and saying it was imprecise, too much, or unwarranted.
The meme may have been any or all of those things. Articulating my disappointment and opinions were not.
