So for everyone that's interested, the owners of Crossfit, Greg Glassman and his Wife Lauren are getting divorced. Both own 50% of the company. Greg is the brains and business behind the whole thing (problems and all) and his wife more or less was along for the ride. She made a deal with a company called Anthos to sell for 20 mil after the divorce, here is what was put out by CF's accountant.

Here is a detailed chronology of the offers CrossFit made to Lauren Jenai Glassman for her stake in CrossFit Inc from our accountant, Ken Smith.

"-December 13th meeting: Proposal was given to Lauren for $1.5M for 15 years My understanding was they would get back to Harvey in three weeks.

-March, 2012
We all met in Harveys office and from there a letter was sent requesting a response to our offer made in December by April 16th.

-April 16:
We received a counter proposal with three options. I had numerous discussions with Lauren and that we were leaning toward option one: $17.5MM over 5 Years Tax Free. Lauren seemed very ple ased as this met with her objective to have a shorter payment schedule. THERE WAS NEVER A PROPOSAL THAT SHE DESIRED ALL CASH UP FRONT!

-June 4th:
We countered with on Option one to ladder the payments each year as follows: $1.5M. $2.5M, $3.5M, $4.5M AND $5.5M for a total of $17.5M.

-June 18th:
We received a rejection of that offer from Grace Park and also that the original three proposals were being withdrawn.

-I later met with Lauren and asked why they didn't submit total cash payment upfront...her comment was we didn't think you would be able to come up with the cash. So will you take cash from us and she said no I can't due to the definitive agreement she signed with Anthos."

Note that all of our payments to Lauren would have been TAX FREE. She has agreed to a lump-sum offer of 20 million from Anthos Capital. This amount is subject to a 40% capital gains tax and will look a lot more like 12 million after the fact. CrossFit would have willingly met or exceeded this 20 million dollar price but Lauren never asked for a counter-offer.

If Bryan Kelly and Lauren want us to believe Lauren's agreement to sell her stake is just about the money, they are going to need to produce another PR video.


So my comment on a friends thread who works for Crossfit was "Color me surprised that a woman is screwing this whole thing up and making bad business decisions"

Crossfit tends to overtrain from what I have tried of it. I also don't think olympic lifts should be in a chain like they often do. They hard to preform as it is, it makes it even harder when your exhausted in a chain or superset. I forgot what they call it now. Can't think so clearly right now. They are also at least twice or three times expensive as most gyms.

I kept hearing about Anthro and crossfit on my facebook, so it sounds like this is the reason.

For bodybuilding, crossfit sucks ass. For muscle endurance and sports conditioning, I think it works pretty well.

Crossfit works great for me. I'm ripped, strong, and I have great endurance. The fact is, it isn't for everyone because most people find it too difficult to do.

I really don't know that much about it except for a few videos I've seen on youtube. It looks like a really tough workout and definitely helpful for building up muscle endurance.

How about cutting? I despise traditional cardio and want to drop 15 to 20 pounds of real weight so I can compete at a lower weight class. Also, how long are sessions usually? I'm thinking of doing it once a week. but I don't know if it will be worth it or if I should stick to wind sprints, jogging, and traditional endurance lifting since I can do it multiple times a week without it taking too much out of me while I'm on a calorie deficit. Crossfit multiple times a week and jiu jitsu 2 sessions 5 times a week and I may start to get close to the line of over-training. I feel comfortable in my current routine and I'm slowly dropping the weight. I'm about 180 and in good shape. You can see the veins in my arms slight striations in my chest. I want to be walking around at 160 and with a calorie deficit I know some muscle loss is inevitable, but I want to be able to go 100% without getting tired during my jiu jitsu matches and I feel like the extra muscle and bulkiness is eating up too much oxygen.

I would try it before asking, but crossfit is expensive.

If you're into body building it probably will work against you. It's not designed to create that kind of hypertrophy, although I do get big from it. It develops more of an he-man/athletic look. Try googling images of the athletes in the crossfit games to get an idea. It's all functionally oriented stuff so the muscularity is a side effect, not exactly the main focus. Now if you want to become a gorilla with endurance and strength for days in jiu jitsu I cant imagine you finding a better regimen. I don't think rionomad agrees but it works for me

Bah, if crossfit the brand dies, the exercise style doesn't go away with it. It will just live on with a different brand name. It's a coach guided general fitness program. Fitness as sport.

Well, shit. I'm not a crossfitter myself but whatever gets people to the gym is golden (especially in America).

I guess it doesn't surprise me that a woman would fuck up these business decisions.

I am confused as to how it's a multi-million dollar business. How can one patent a method of exercise, or is it about a specific machine they invented?

Franchising, I don't think all those crossfit gyms around the world are allowed to use the name for free...

You can COPYRIGHT not patent how a series of things are organized. You can't own the words in a story but how they are arranged is unique. This is how crossfit can have a copyright the excercise program. Also trademarks can be copyrighted too. Brands have value since why the fuck do we pay so much for sugar water? So every crossfit francise will have to pay fees to be able to use the brand.

Anyway, like others, I'm amazed how smart businessmen are so retarded about marriage.
