She Wants A Blowout Wedding, He Wants The Cash
Quote:My future in-laws have offered us cash instead of paying for a big wedding, which they had always promised to pay for. My fiancée’s two sisters have gotten married in the last few years, both with great weddings, and now grandchildren are taking the family’s attention. The money is enough for a down payment on a townhouse we could buy instead of renting our apartment. We both have good jobs, but haven’t been able to save much.

My fiancée wants the wedding. She has always wanted to walk down the aisle with her girlfriends as bridesmaids, and a big party to celebrate. Don’t suggest we make it smaller. That was my idea. But she thinks she’ll miss having had what her sisters had for the rest of her life. And then be mad at me for making her give it up.

9/10 girls choose the wedding.

One of many reasons not to get married.

Or if you do decide to get married, find the 1 in 10.

It's funny, right. If a man were to take his families' rent money and blow it on a night of drinking or at the track, you'd call him a deadbeat or worse.

I have never understood the rationale behind dropping a large sum of money on a wedding.

The average wedding costs about 25k.

Average house cost in US is about 170k.

Thats a 10% downpayment with enough left over for small remodeling.

Buy a house or have one day to remember for the first of your life and hope you dont get divorced.

I wont even get into how selfish it is for these women to have a "My special day" event.

God'll prolly have me on some real strict shit
No sleeping all day, no getting my dick licked

Most women, whether they realize it or not, view getting married as an accomplishment, but most don't really want to be married or be the kind of woman it takes to for a man to stay married -- and faithful -- to her.

Wedding Day is their Mt. Everest, it often only goes downhill from there.

The fact that this guy is going through this should really make him question if she is the right partner for him in the game of life.

But he probably won't, because it would only reveal a flaw in himself, since he in fact chose her.

We must remember that women settle, men choose.

Women aren't particularly good at employing foresight. They want what they want now. They often equate how grand a gesture is, or how much someone spent on something, to how much you love them (like chicks who won't accept and engagement ring less than x-amount of carats). Some couples are still paying off the wedding after they're divorced. I think it's stupid to start your life together in tremendous debt, instead of scaling back on the wedding/reception and getting a headstart on the home you'll be building your life in. The fact that daddy is paying for it all clouds her thinking. The fact that they haven't been able to put money away, even though they both work good jobs, says something. I don't suggest they go down to City Hall, but the motivation for having a big wedding is also typical of dumb bitches - it's a competition with her sisters. If it weren't her sisters, it would be one of her friends that had a great wedding that would be the motivation to have an even better one herself. "Dream Wedding" means expensive, not having everyone that's important there to see it and share in the day. Honestly, I think he SHOULD issue a threat - scale back the wedding, or I'm OUT.

"The best kind of pride is that which compels a man to do his best when no one is watching."

This is supreme truth. This is why otherwise attractive women end up 38-year-old spinsters running to catch a guy or racing to have a baby before the clock runs out. It's why some chicks delude themselves into thinking that they're going to be that attractive forever--when, in fact, they get 15 or 20 years, at most, like that. They're impulsive, emotional creatures. It's frankly why guys like us exist. We've short-circuited and re-wired that hamster to our advantage.

We're the gum or Snickers Bar at the register. They can't help but put us on the register's conveyor belt. We're there. And now.

Expensive weddings are the biggest scam in history, with expensive rings being a close runner up.

Forunately, I don't think this is really something most men have to worry about that much. Marriage seems to be on the way out. Every couple I know under the age of 25 that has kids, is unmarried. Unfortunately, this is related to the problem of single moms.
