Polite way to tell neighbours about house party
I recently moved into a new house with 4 other mates, we had a party the first night but went out clubbing around 11 - so naturally our new neighbours weren't that bothered.

This week however we're doing the reverse, I've got a gig in town, and want to have the after party at mine. This is on a thursday night.

Anyone got advice on how to inform the neighbours without being a douche or a pushover?

21 y/o brit.

Invite them. They won't come but the hate will be less.

RE: Polite way to tell neighbours about house party
If they're way older knock on the door and tell them your having a party for your best friends birthday or something. Then say your going to try to keep the noise low, but if it does get loud I would ask you to call me on my phone before you call the cops and we'll gladly turn down the music for you. Then give them your number.

If they're your age invite them over. If they say no tell them the same thing.
I've done this several times and once had cops waiting outside my house for an hour just expecting a noise complaint to come in, but it never came.
Also 99.9% of the time no one will even call you.

Agree 100%, that's the best way to go about it. If you reach out to people they're always way more receptive than if they feel out of the loop.
