RE: SHUT THE [email protected]#K UP!
Unfortunately, this is the format that has become most popular on television. Let's get two or three people on split-screen, and let them shout over each other. The hosts and participants forget why they're on tv discussion a particular issue. They're there for US, not for themselves. They aren't there to raise their own profiles (though if they actually provide value, their profile WILL go up). They aren't there to try to compete against the others on the program, or to shout the other down or make them look bad. They're there to actually debate and discuss and issue, and to intelligently present why they think their view is the accurate one. We don't get that if everyone is talking at the same time.
My first issue with the chick is that she actually avoided the core issue. There will always be more elite colleges and universities that cost more. There will be others in the middle range. There will be others at the lower range, and then community colleges, trade schools etc. Everyone should be able to attend college if the want to, but not everyone can go to the most prestigious or expensive schools and incur ridiculous debt.

I agree. This is a "vanilla" version of Jerry Springer. Also believe the networks line up the fight unfairly, to support their views, or at least get the bickering started. Obviously she wasn't near as educated on the subject as the other guy, and came off to me as intern. Did you notice how her eyes kept going high and to the right? I'd call that one staged.

RE: SHUT THE [email protected]#K UP!
For non-Americans, this is the "snotty girl" accent. It is not an actual regional accent in America. It is a media created accent that was created for comedic purposes for television comedies. It's as fake and fabricated as Klingon or Dothraki. In television you're always supposed to hate the girl who speaks with the snotty girl accent, because her character is always over-privileged, arrogant, and thinks she knows more than she actually does. They are never as good as their parents (is this her mother?), who always overpromote their children beyond their abilities. And when bad things happen to the snotty girl, you cheer.
Because everyone hates snotty people.
Diana G Carew's accent is literally copied off of a television show, probably to cover a baser Pittsburgh or New Jersey accent, but she's too stupid to understand she's copied the accent of the evil girl of the show. What next? As long as she's demonstrating how culturally clueless she is, maybe she will start dressing like Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians as well?
As to what she says... some people you don't need to parody, you just need to quote them.
"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."
