I saw this article about some anti-islamic black metal bands in the middle east.

This quote by a female band member struck me:

"...What would happen to her and her compatriots if religious authorities discovered their actions?

'A simple answer. They would kill me, and kill all of my friends, by cutting off our heads.'"

It made me think about how western women complain endlessly about rape culture, double standards and how oppressed they are.

Interesting article. Good on the band for standing up. The same will happen in Iran if it isn't already happening. Turkey is next. Books and websites that offer different opinions or criticize Islam are prohibited in these countries. If its the truth, then whats with the censorship? More young Muslims are questioning faith much like other religious group members. Some are drawn to being controlled while others want to be free from it.

Religion is not natural. In the end nature always wins.

It sounded fishy to me when I was reading it.

Has anyone seen a black metal music video where some girl dressed as a Nazi is pushing around some old guy in a wheel chair? I think she tosses him out of it and starts laughing or some shit like that. It's been years and I can't find it on youtube or google!

Its amusing how easy it is to prank the media. These guys are hungry for anything and will publish it if it looks faintly real, and hooks on to some topic that drives viewership.

I've been involved in a few hoaxes that made it to print before myself. Its very applicable for pick up if you need some rudimentary level of credibility -- looks that's me in this tabloid photo, etc.
