It is pretty well established that the disappearing act can be a powerful tool for building interest. Granted, it can also be a last ditch play for a guy who has lost the upper-hand. Whatever the reason for its use, how does a guy even utilize this weapon in the age of Facebook?

I know Roosh has suggested having a very limited profile, but what if it's too late for that... For example, if a guy decides the best strategy is to lay low, how can he do this if the girl can see his wall/who he is talking to? If you suddenly remove your wall or something, any chick would know something was up. So does laying low simply mean not updating your status or writing on people's wall? Part of what makes the disappearing act so effective is not only a lack of contact, but also her need to know what/who the guy might be doing...

So, how on earth can a guy truly disappear into a veil of mystery when he has already opened up his social network to any and all prying eyes (including the chick/s he's nailing/trying to nail)???

I love facebook, I do not use it's social quirks or to find anyone. It's for pictures, email and a handy dandy messenger.

Don't overthink it dude. You'll never know what women think or why, so don't try to micro manage it. Your job is to build attraction once you're in person and make shit happen. If you want to use it is a tool, it's kind of lame to ask someone out on it but I've done it and it's worked. the more pictures of you with beautiful girls, the better.

The easiest way is to never get involved in the first place.

Being less connected is good.

I am seriously considering even getting rid of my cell phones.

Facebook has incredible privacy filters. You can hide any part of your profile too anyone you choose.

Yes, I totally agree that privacy controls are important. But wouldn't it be a bit fishy to all of a sudden block certain parts of your profile for a certain girl?

Anyway, I really think thegmanifesto is on to something with his idea of severing contact from all artificial social devices...

Facebook is always getting me in trouble. Even my dumb ass friend are always writing stupid shit while I'm here in Brazil like, "Make her call you Matt." or "I bet your banging tons of hot Brazilian brods." I'm like thanks dude, the chick I'm working on right now is my friend on facebook. Whatever though.

I know what you mean. One thing I liked better about myspace is that you have the option of first approving comments before they're allowed to be posted. The only thing you can do with facebook is just hide your wall all together, or at least just hide from certain individuals you specify.

For sure. I really dug that about myspace. I don't use myspace anymore though. It just seems like it's for younger kids to me. More for highschoolers. I think most of my friends use facebook now.

I don't use any of that stuff.

Girls have given me their shit and only rarely have I taken it seriously.

Maybe I'm missing out, but it seems similar to a girl giving you a fake phone number.

The way I see it, girls already have enough opportunities to play gay little games, that crap is just another outlet.

Yeah, but I don't really use facebook to keep in touch with girls, I use it to keep in touch with friends. I move around a lot so it's hard to call everyone. Facebook seems to be the easiest way for me to keep in touch with friends.

Facebook has played a couple assists for me which is nice, but it's more of a time killer than anything else.

I locked down my wall so people can only respond to my status updates. It greatly limits damaging comments. I also don't allow tagged photos of me to be visible.
