Intersting piece of info I had recently come across, showing real wages from 1960 to 2010 in the U.S.

I'm sure you're familiar with some of what is disclosed in various forms, but a message is clear from this.

From 1970, of all the wealth that has been created since 1970 and awarded to labour, it has pretty much all gone to women.

Men's real wages have been static for 40 years.

Of U.S. men who rely on selling their labour, they have seen no gain. it has all gone to either an increased reutn to capital, or women.

That should be somewhat demotivating.

This is interesting I have long followed this statistic of how Men and all labor in general has been cheated. To even go farther and expand on what you posted; Americans made more money and had more wealth ion the 60's then now and if you adjusted min wage properly the base wage in America should be 21$ a hr. The elite have robbed about 85% of real wealth then threw women a meager 5% to keep them happy which ends up returning back to capitalists since women spend way more of their income then men do on non-essential goods.

Don't you know... this is progress, my man. Equality of the sexes right here, but there's still plenty of work to be done. We need women to earn just as much as men do before we can tell people from third-world countries how great and free America is.

This also explains why the gap in income disparity has grown.

I have said it plenty, but with women entering the workforce, all they ever were going to be is employees. So few go on to start anything, and if they do, its often in retail or a very small business employing at most one or two people. They produce nothing, their idea of self employment is selling their time. Women want seats on the board, but they dont actually start those companies that become so big they need boards in the first place. In all my years, I can count on one hand the number of women who were venture capitalists, angel funders or even looking to invest in anything productive. Every cent they earn is either spent or saved, and to them career means middle management, not curing cancer or starting a fortune 500.

The end result is downward pressure on wages across the board, and its turned the middle class into worker bees. The gap between rich and poor has grown as men continue to build companies, but the barrier to entry has grown with all the regulation, taxes and their low salaries. At the same time, companies dont have to train people like they did before or promote internally either.

So the middle class has had its purchasing power decimated, its now in debt with the way its been spending, 50% of the workforce is not going to create employment to dig it out of its hole(but will demand it and have legislation in place to protect it at the expense of the creators) and big government is crippling most peoples chances are getting something going these days with regulation and taxation.

Next time someone says female participation in the economy is crucial for its growth, laugh in their face.

I'd be interested to know how much of the wage gap is also in the unskilled sector.

Construction pays more than waiting tables, women rarely do manual jobs.

When it comes to the minimum wage in the 60's being $21 when adjusted for inflation, the types of jobs have changed over the years. Now most minimum wage jobs are service industry, unskilled labor. Back then I'm assume it was mostly skilled labor, trades, production line, and jobs that were dangerous as well. Also, since the number of people in the work force was reduced, there was less of a labor supply and people could demand more money.

It's still fucked, though.
