Heard this song for the first time in Reykjavik a couple months ago. It played in a small bar and literally everyone there started singing along. In my drunken stated I thought it must be a hit local song. Heard that song more than any other in my month through europe.




Its a pretty cheesy song, especially when you see who sings it, but is surprisingly catchy

This song is way overplayed and outdated in Brazil but it is starting to make its rounds elsewhere. Even an english version and an awful spanish version performed by Pitbull.

The song is a pop version of Sertanojo, i.e., Brazilian country music.

It's so funny to see Northern European SWPL types dancing to a song that only the bottom of the barrel in Brazil would ever listen to.

Definitely wouldnt say that bottom of the barrel only listen to it...Check out the girls in the Michael Telo video.

You are right. My point is this:

All those hot girls in the video would probably be embarrassed to dance to the song if it were sung by some illiterate mixed-breed hick from the Sertão. It just wouldn't be sophisticated. But since it is sung by Michel Teló, who is of European stock AND from Paraná, then it's cool.

Teló is a marketing genius. He created a version of Forró / Sertanojo that is ready for mass consumption on a global scale. He accomplished the seemingly impossible: make Forró / Sertanojo sound and look hip.

I didn't know there's SWPL yuppies in Europe. Interesting. Can you compare SWPL types from around the wolrd to American ones?

I hate that song. It's lame, and even though I like lots of salsa/bachata/reggaeton/whatever, it reminds me of Justin Bieber. Good reminder that fame > game though.

Although the song is absolutely silly and I just can't hear it anymore, I'm glad to see people anywhere in the world singing in Portuguese.
