All I'm saying is that, when speaking with English speaking Brazilian girls, you don't need to be best friends with Rosetta Stone in order 2 fuck them, and that they are intrigued by gringos and want to practice English. I think it is pretty well known that girls like foreigners.

Simon could be telling the truth about his particular experience. For all we know, he may be 6'4" and look like a Calvin Klein model, and that may explain women's receptiveness. I think for most guys going to Brazil, they better learn some basics.

I'm sure some girls are just happy to practice english and intrigued. But I would venture a guess, based on what some other posters have said, that people down there appreciate a little effort, even if they do in fact speak english.

Brandon E,

How did you do?

What kind of boards were people using out there?

Can you give me some info about the waves?

Aloha!

Yes, absolutely.

Although if the guy's advice is to just go to Brazil and mumble ramble Portuguese to girls, there's gonna be a bunch of disappointed gringos in Rio.

Getting there. I can hold a shallow convo, nothing too deep or philosophical.

RE: Preparing for Brazil
Hey! I am heading to Brazil from Chicago and arrive on Sunday (Dec 13th). I have 21 days in S. America and plan on staying in Rio for 5 nights, Salvador and maybe Florianopolis. I am traveling solo but would love a wing man or some great suggestions. Feel free to email me if you are going to be in Brazil the 13th-28th (going to BA on the 28th).

Man, surfing is so much harder than I thought it would be. I didn't do very well, but the waves weren't very good either. I guess we were actually only about 10 kilometers away from where the Vans Triple Crown was. My friend I'm staying with's next door neighbor is actually a board shaper. His boards are called Simon. A lot of people use them. I'm not too sure about what other kinds are used. As far as the waves go, it seems like the spot has a lot of potential, it's just the last couple days haven't been good. My friend says sometimes they'll go a couple weeks without good waves and then get 4 or 5 days worth of great waves.

Anything you haven't done in 10 years is usually rough the first time out.

From what I read, the waves are in from March to June in that part of the world.

I found a report, maybe you saw a head high or two but that was probably it. Looks like really quick sets though. It was probably too choppy for your first time back out.

I was wondering more along the lines of sizes and shapes of boards to get an idea about waves, but sounds like nothing to report!

As soon as it isn't 2 grand for me to fly to Brazil, I think I'm gonna check that place out.

Aloha!

Not sure about the good time to come out. I think it's more the winter. The waves do break pretty fast. They weren't opening up much, but my friend said it's not always like that. I could ask him more about the time the waves are the best though. As far as boards go, I know 6'2" is pretty common here. My friend is riding a little under a 6' board he just got the other day. He says it's called a fish board. The body is a little wider than the average board and I think a little shorter as well. He says it helps go fast on the smaller waves.

People are giving simonh shit, maybe he's got a cutback?

One of these days soon, I'm going to get out there. Thanks for the info. Keep it coming.

The Brazilians were unreal again today. These guys were going right into the 40 and 50 foot stuff, wearing helmets and shit. There's gotta be serious waves somewhere in Brazil. I just need to find the right time to go there.

There are supposed to be some really good places to surf up North too. We went to a place about an hour South of Floripa called Praia de Rosa. My friends said they get good waves there. I'm sure they usually do if they drove an hour to go surfing. The day we went though the wind was blowing from the south east, so the water to the earth. The waves weren't that good.

RE: Preparing for Brazil
Hey Guys,

I'm the newbie in your forum, greetings from Mexico.
I'm gladly surprised with the forum I've been reading the past hours and a lot of contribution here.
I've been twice in Sao Paulo first time for 3 weeks and the second time for 5 weeks. It took me a week to get laid with my first Brazilian girl and I consider that I have a high solid Game, but these girls really deserve the wait. Let me clear you guys something: The Game is really different in this country!.
The nightlife there is called "balada" (in case you want to google it in the local language), most of the girls that you see alone at the balada are looking forward to get some action, actually most of the times that's the reason why they are there. You can see a girl making out with more than two guys in a single night, I've seen girls making out 3 mins after the guy came out with his first line. And guess what? They are not going to feel sluttys beacause of that, their friends are not going to think that they are whores, they are used to act like that.
I hope this info will be useful to improve your Game in Brazil.

RE: Preparing for Brazil
Marcus,

Balada is a slang from SP. in Floripa (Florianopolis) go to a Balada means "pegar uma night", therefore balada means the hole situation, dancing, kissing and drinking! hahahah.
And yes, some girls kiss guys as a sport or competition. (who kiss less pays the drinks) They show behind the guys back how they are going with the fingers, like if I kissed 3, I show 3 fingers behind the 3rd guy back to my friend see it. Not my thing...

It's called "ficar," literally "to stay" -- which basically means taking a guy for a test drive. :-)

A girl having a competition to see who can kiss the most guys is like guys having a beer chugging contest. Not particularly challenging or impressive.

It start to get impressive when they are in the 15th...( in the same day and increasing) For example, the carnival or micareta.

Mrs. Chocolate, I'll be in Sao Paulo on Saturday. Any suggestions that aren't going to cost me a ton of money (I don't want to spend any more than R$60)?
