Damn, I gotta come back and throw down some info on this thread when I have time. But honestly, the catalina does have a decent bang for the buck if you are on a budget, and yeah the TV show sucks, especially when you just want to lounge by the pool and there are 30 douche bags acting out a "reality television" show. But I looked around for a while and they had the nicest rooms for the price at that time. It all depends on the time of year though. I could tell you a couple better places to go if you walk in, but if you are trying to walk in during peak season, not a chance you'll get a room. But if you're going in the summer, I can get you hooked up.

As far as strip clubs go, Scarlets has the best looking women. Tootsies is definitely not a brothel, though you may be able to p4p for certain girls, as you probably could for the right price at scarlets as well. if you are looking for a brothel, it's porkies, but fuck that shit. King of Diamonds is huge in Miami but it's mostly black girls if that's your think, you'll love KOD. The strip clubs in MIA were much different than Vegas. It's strange because the quality of strippers in vegas are much better though the quality of women in general in MIA is much better. I think the good looking girls in MIA go more for the modeling gigs. I had more fun at tootsies though usually even though scarlets has better quality. To be honest though, unless you are REALLY into strip clubs, the ones in MIA are a waste of time. Plus, if you are staying in SoBe, any quality strip club (The 3 mentioned above) is gonna be a $60-70 taxi ride each way. Save your money and do something better. I'm sure you have strip clubs in your home town, and I bet the ones in Miami aren't much better.

Whoever mentioned "Well" nightclub having 2-1 girl to guy, LOL! Please, don't go to Well expecting that. Maybe it will be 2-1 but it's usually more like 2 or 1 people there. Maybe 4 guys and 6 girls. You may be lucky if you catch it on a good night, but for the most part, there's nothing going on there. I hear on either Thrusdays or Fridays they have a decent salsa night, but it's nothing to write home about. My boy used to DJ there, I would go to support him, but the most people I've seen at the place was maybe 20-30. Great venue though, its just a shame it never fills up. Back in the day I hear it used to be one of the most poppin' spots in MIA (though under a different name I can't remember right now). On either night you can find much better things to do in Miami. But the Forge however next door, is a great place to have dinner.

It was me who mentioned the crazy ratios at Well, and I can do that because I was actually going to the spot myself -- not just hearing about it from someone else as you admitted to doing. I also mentioned what night I had been going and what the theme was for that particular night.

There isn't one reference to Well in this thread that suggested it's one of the most poppin spots on the beach, I mentioned it because it was literally the only spot in Miami that hosted a bachata specific night, outside of having to go to the Dominican clubs in Allapattah -- the promoters for that night decided to move their event to another location, so I no longer have a reason to hit up Well.

I'm pretty sure I'm remembering correctly, but I believe you moved to Miami just a couple of years ago -- not sure if you even still live here -- lived on the Beach, and didn't even have your own wheels (which is why you're citing taxi costs), so in my opinion, you're on the low end of the totem pole in terms of breaking this city down compared to a guy like myself who can talk about partying anywhere between Homestead's Fat Monkey and Boca's Club Boca.

You don't sound like a local, and that's fine. You don't need to live someplace to provide good information. But I do feel you were contradictory regarding some pretty solid intel that was posted on this thread. Most notably:

Tootsies not a brothel? Fail
Miami Strip Clubs waste of time? Fail - it's part of the nightlife culture
Strip clubs in your home town better? Fail (unless you live in Vegas)

Scarlets has good looking women - True, but as another poster said, it's more of a club than strip club.
Forge is a good place to eat - Agreed, if you are up that way, this is a good spot for dinner.

I agree with this. I don't know much about Vegas, but I grew up in the Northeast part of the country and the strip clubs there were more like - look and get teased, then leave with blue balls. You can do a lot more at the clubs in Miami if you're willing to go that route.
If you're staying in South Beach, the only one there is Madonna and it's a no alcohol place which generally isn't as good as the ones on the mainlaind. So if you just go on vacation and go to South Beach for a week or something, you're not going to really get a feel for places that locals go.

RE: South Beach
Sure, if you pay the right price, like $400 you can p4p at tootsies, but it's not a brothel. I'm sure you can p4p at pretty much any stip club if you have the right money. Miami strip clubs are alright if you live out there, but I'm just saying, if you are there for a weekend, you can find a lot better things to do than go to a strip club. There isn't a good chance of picking up girls at tootsies unless you are looking to spend a lot of money on p4p. And about Well, if you say so. I just know from my experience, and I've been there multiple times, it's always been dead. BTW there are a handful of places that play bachata, it's just I don't know if you would want to go to some of them, they are pretty hood. Romance, boulevard, and theres another place i can't remember the name of in a hotel by miami gardens that plays bachatta. There are pretty girls, but the places are mad hood. A friend of mine got a gun pulled on him at Boulevard. And you're right, I didn't have a car and lived on the beach, but by the time I left Miami, which was only a month ago, I was well connected. I almost never paid to drink and any of the clubs. A lot of my friends grew up there. And one of my closest friends worked for one of the biggest promoters in MIA. Not the type of cat that walks around the streets trying to get girls to clubs, but the type of cat who owns a house on hibiscus island. I got invited to all his parties. Just cause I don't have a car and live on the beach doesn't mean i don't know shit about miami. So please, bottom of the totom poll? Give me a break.

This may be a crazy question, but is there an Asian community in Miami/SoBe? Is there a Chinatown or anything that pretends to be a Chinatown (i.e. like the one in DC)?

None. Not at all. There is one block of asian junk store / resteraunt right off the golden glades interchange at 163rd.

Yep, nothing as far as Asians go. I worked at 2 hotels out there and I saw maybe a total of 20-30 come in in two years. Definitely Southern Cali is your best bet for an Asian community.

Yeah, nothing but tourists.

Asian food lags behind in South Beach too.

You may see an occasional super hot Asian in South Beach, but that is just because super hot girls gravitate to South Beach.

But I wouldn't bank on that happening for anyone.

Interestingly enough, I swooped a pretty fly one recently. But I am convinced it was a total fluke.

I've mentioned this spot in AP before, but think I gave the wrong cross streets and I didn't know the name, but I went to it last night so now I can provide more.

At 21st and 21st, close to a Jensen's Liquors and Walgreens, there's a place called New Coffee Drink. Last night they charged $5 to get in, I previously went on a Sunday, and there was no cover charge. Anyway, the place was wall to wall girls, and the competition aka interference, was minimal.

It's mostly Dominican, as to be expected, but there were a few Cuban chicks there, you can spot them pretty easily, lighter skin, masculine looking faces, above average bodies, and they'll likely be as far from the main dance floor as possible since they can't dance to the music -- last night the D.J. played mostly dembow and bachata.

I'd avoid approaching anyone sitting in the back with table service smoking hookahs. These chicks are not really there to party, as much as they are to get fucked up, go home, and get fucked by someone else.

I saw dudes trying to get at these girls, and the girls were turning them into photography boys, non-player shit, something no dude should ever do at a club.

Just got back from another night at New Coffee Drink aka New Cafe. Man it was thick. This time I went with a chick, but I wish I had not. Girls were getting pulled left and right. I left the girl I came with for a moment to go talk this Colombiana and she assumed I was with my GF, but gave me her number. I figured, ok whatever I'll knock that down another day. 10 minutes later, I'm dancing with the girl I came with, and another dude is taking her away from the dance floor to go outside. Some time later when I leave, said girl and guy are getting out of a car parked outside the club, and her makeup wasn't anywhere near as fresh as it was when I had talked to her, and dude's shirt was off -- he didn't dance anymore than 5 minutes with the girl before they took off.

Anyway, about New Cafe, you can bet on it pretty much any Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. They seem to change which night is free, sometimes it's Friday, sometimes Sunday, the cover has never been more than $5, and it's always been thick with talent. The girl I went with tonight, I met there several weeks ago. It's mostly Dominicanas, but you'll find some non-Dominicanas there, and they are typically all over the Black Dominicanos.

There's also a new place in AP further down 36th, past Bully, going towards Hialeah called Romance. Romance goes down on Thursday nights. When I first started going in February, it was a nice, intimate crowd. Now, by 12, you'll have a hard time finding parking, at least anything free and close. I can say again, always thick with talent.

For those who like Dominican girls, AP is a goldmine.

How is Miami Beach in August?

A hell hole to be avoided because of the heat?

Not too bad, and the heat is not as bad as people say?

Paradise to swoop local girls, easy to operate because a lack of tourists and warm tropical water?

Please advise.

It's fatter and uglier. The quality of female tourists is much worse than it is during other parts of the year, especially the winter months. The local girls are around, of course, but I don't know how much easier things become with the local girls during summer.

I can't say that it is much hotter than New Jersey or California during August, but I believe there is much more of a chance of rain in Miami during August than during winter. When I was there this winter, the weather was perfect and there was tons of talent. During the summer, it seems to be completely different and I have a significant amount of time there during two of the past three summers.

Here's the breakdown of the seasons in Miami...

Jan-April it's poppin'. The best time to be in town and the weather is nice.

May-June, you start to see thing slow down.

June-September, not the best time to be there, but not as bad as the next couple months. It's hot. For me not unbearable, but I grew up in Vegas and to be honest you kind of get used to the humidity. I still think it beats most US cities in these months though. The Fourth of July is pretty good and you'll get weekends here and there when it's poppin'

October-December, the worst months to be in Miami, minus art basel weekend. It really slows down and almost all the people you meet are going to be locals. Things don't really pick up until new years, and even then Miami is pretty comparable to June-September most of the month of January.

Yeah, I guess you aren't the best judge of unbearable heat being from Vegas.

For you it's just biz as usual.

Interesting you say that.

I loved October - December.

Real easy to operate, and real easy to lay groundwork for connections and locking down spots.

Plenty of girls too, and of course Art Basel was mindblowing.

Yeah I could see that g. If you're looking to meet locals, get good connects, and are easily annoyed by the large crowds in Sobe, then October-December could be a great option. You won't see quite as many stunners as peaks season, but then again you're in Miami. It's still better than most cities in the us. The local girls will satisfy just fine.

August is actually the worst month for weather in Miami, it's either like a sauna outside, or it's raining. The rain can also come out of nowhere.

So does it completely suck?

Would you avoid it if you have the choice?

I would say go, but just dress appropriately and bring an umbrella. Avoid the tourist spots because August is the off season and maybe go to Coconut Grove and hit on all the sorority cum dumpsters going back to school, that place gets packed with college kids when school starts in mid-August.

Vitriol knows what he's talking about.

G it gets so hot here that you can be inside and if you start thinking about outside, you start to sweat.

I don't care about the rain as long as it stops by 10, otherwise it will be slow in the clubs.

If you can find out where the back to school party for UM is, it's usually at one of the Grove spots is, you won't be disappointed.

RE: South Beach
Good thread. Planning on making a 'mini-move' to Miami for 3 months next year. Have visited for 'work' and play and this city is next on my list to lock-down completely. Flyest girls for my type, hands down.
