Making some travelling money quickly, while abroad
Situation: Came to Thailand with savings for the trip, plan was to figure out how to make money. Long story short: Still have not done that.
Worked on my sites somewhat and did a lot of research into other careers. I looked into programming, writing and translation but somehow have not managed to get anything substantial going. And most savings are spent now.
When I came here I was earning a decent amount from various content websites. After the recent Google update it's now down to about $200-250 a month from Adsense. I'm struggling to see how I could squeeze more out of them - it might be possible, but now Im leaning towards just selling and taking the lump sum.
I have about $2000 I can access, before it's time to go home. So that would have to cover my flight back to europe too. Then I'd be broke, and I'd have to dig into my longer term savings to support myself (rather not do that).
Ideally, I figure out how to make some $$$ and stay on the road. I do not do well working with other people and would like to keep this thing going. If I could just get to $1000-1500 a month, online, I'd be SET.
Options:
-Online consulting - SEO or conversion. I know ALOT about SEO and a decent amount about conversion. Im sure there are people who'd pay for it. I dont really enjoy it, but I think I could - particularly if I was doing conversion for cool/worthwhile sites and businesses.
-Translation. My German is passable and Im confident I could get it up to par with some intensive reading/listening.
-Writing. Have looked into writing on elance, honestly the projects look pretty shit and low paying, but it could be some much needed funds. I'm a good writer and my brain enjoys doing it.
-Other online business? Other online jobs?
I'd love to find out more about:
-Finding work while I travel. Dont think the opps are great for this in Thailand - but I know in some countries the demand for western people to work in tourist jobs is quite good. Would love to hear more about this... what could I do in Asia or elsewhere that would be a great little gig for a while?
-English teaching. Are there any places with short contracts of a few months? I have a bachelors and masters, no teaching english cert though.
Does anyone else have any other thoughts? It's coming down to the crunch for me, I really need to get something going within the next 30 days. I desperately want to stay travelling, I'd feel like I failed if I had to go back to the UK and get a soul-sucking job out of necessity. I KNOW it can be done... I just need to get creative and make something happen, soon.

That's a really cool idea! Not sure if I can do that on my visa, but that is exactly the sort of thing I needed to hear... good dose of lateral thinking, cheers man.

I recall youngmobileglobal had a post or thread about getting set up with some kind of gig in Thailand, including modelling. You could try searching the forum for it or maybe PM'ing him.
I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

Blackhatforum also had some good stuff sometimes, although half an hour on there and your eyeballs feel like they're on fire.
Almost anybody can make wedge online these days, had some shitty office job in the US?, well how about doing the same shitty job but in paradise where you can live on a quarter of what you do back home? better still outsource the work.
I wouldn't return to living in London now unless I was making £80k plus, otherwise i'm better off overseas
I will be heading to Mumbai in Autumn, going to be doing some acting in Bollywood films and also some Modelling.
Sterling is v strong against the Ruppee right now, very cheap in India. Will also be playing golf, hunting Russian girls, watersports, etc, can't fooking wait.

I thought Mumbai was a shit hole. I was there for about 3 weeks and that was too long for me.
I got hit up to be an extra in a bollywood movie while I was there. It seems it is pretty common for them to scope out foreigners. Deb, do you have a speaking role or just doing the extra bit?

It is a shit hole I heard, just going there because that's where Bollywood is, and I need to be in a city with reliable internet, Indian internet sucks.
No parts as yet(i'm just confident!) but will hopefully have a show reel by the time I get there.
I'm more confident on getting modelling work to be honest, but who know's. Will be nice being in an exciting vibrant country after being in Ukraine for a while

Did you mean Blackhatworld? I recently discovered that forum and it's full of seemingly great money making ideas. People explain everything step by step in a lot of the threads that any newbie can follow. It's not only given me hundreds of new ideas but helped me work out some twists on existing ideas I had and shown me how to make them work. The making money section of the forum then the making money sub forum is a must read for anyone thinking of getting into making cash online. I found it much more valuable than Warrior forum to date but both are good.
I used to make money from online gambling and uploading adult content and charging for it but neither make money anymore, after discovering BHW I'm ready to get back into the world of online money making. I've so many ideas and now I know how to implement them that if I fail to make cash then I deserve to work a soul destroying 9-5 for the rest of my life. I'm heading back home soon and I intend to start making money online as quick as I can.
If you're not familiar with the forum Richie it might be worth a read. In the meantime I'd start offering your services in writing, SEO and whatever else you are good at on fiverr and it's clones as well as all the freelancer sites like freelancer, eguru, odesk, people per hour etc.
I just wish I'd found out about BHW sooner as I could have been doing some work out here, it'd give me something productive to do during the day.

Yeah a guy I know had the same happen to him.
Quote:I used to hit up Warriorforum when I needed some quick cash. I would sell resell rights to a quick product I created. I don't do much there anymore but back in the day, I was making an extra 20k to 30k a year from that forum. That one forum is a gold mine with the right product or service.
You said you're good at writing so writing an ebook and selling it (on Warriorforum) with private label rights will make you some good coin if you pick a great topic.
When you say you were selling the rights to a product, you mean a psychical product or some sort of ebook / guide or something else??

Quote:Yes blackhatworld, I would like to get into IM, but I know absolutely nothing about it. Even the "easiest $1000 method for noobs" threads seem to be over my head! Saying that I have never really tried anything out.
It's all laid out step by step in most posts, if you already make money from the internet then I'm 100% confident you can follow most of the guides. You already said you make money from Amazon and Ebay, so you could definitely set up an affiliate account with Amazon and sell stuff. Just gotta find the right niche. What do you do at the moment, dropshipping? Also what kind of freelance work?
Problem is that there is a lot of IM lingo that i'm not familiar with. Not really interested in being an affiliate of Amazon's, the margins are not there for me. I have some niche methods with Amazon and Ebay that bring me very high margins
With regard to freelancing, It's specialist sales and also outsourcing. Also have a website offering financial services.

This isn't sustainable in the long run, it'll at best give you some more pocket money, but bring a couple pairs of new, stylish levis with tags in your size with you. Foreigners love it. Sometimes they go for a hundred dollars or more. If you can't sell em, you have a few more pairs in your arsenal.
As a matter of fact, anything small that you can sell, but if you don't it's not a huge loss for you. When I was doing jiu jitsu here in Korea, i wanted to buy some headgear to protect my ears. I think they're like 20 bucks in the US. In Korea, they're over 100 dollars.
