With more than 3 times the population of Germany the law of averages says the U.S., where I live, would have more crime and require cops to shoot more.

Like some of the comments in the article said, probably cultural differences play into it was well too.

Bullets Fired: 85

Per-Pop Average: 1 bullet for every 961,203

If that average were to hold true for the U.S., American police would have shot only 324 bullets last year.

I think culture has a lot to do with it.

How about the cop:civilian ratios, MSW?
Though, I'm sure that Americans are far happier to shoot first and ask questions later than Germans. From what I understand, Germans are far more concerned with the consequences of their actions than most Americans.

I think the security guards in my county fired more than 85 this month.

The US and Brazil are a lot crazier than Germany. When MS-13 starts infiltrating Germany we'll see what happens.

I don't argue with the math. I disagree for the following reason:

Seeing how the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the World, I'd wager that we have more police per person than Germany does. After all, all those people aren't being arrested by the Army and U.S. Marshalls.
